What's a Soulmate?

Start from the beginning

Now that Peter's really thought about it, Michelle was the only other person that really seemed to know Peter. And he knew just as much about her.

That someone who makes you a better person. No, actually they don't make you a better person. You do that by yourself because they inspire you.

"You are not weak," Michelle told Peter sternly. It was probably one of the worst days of his life. Mysterio, a new villain, had made up illusions that messed with his mind. He thought he lost everyone he had left that he cared about. And because he was so distracted the apartment building he was trying to save had been blown up by the bomb planted in there. Before the bomb exploded, he managed to save everyone, but a man who's legs were trapped under a bed with large pieces of the ceiling above adding weight to the bed. On Peter's way to the man was when mysterio attacked. As the building rumbled his suit self activated and got him out of there as fast as possible. Mysterio had won and he'd lost.

Then he locked himself in his room feeling miserable and defeated. He let someone die on his account. He stayed in that room for about a week. Everyone from May to Ned, even Happy paid a visit to talk to him, reassure him that it wasn't his fault. Now it was Michelle's turn and while she felt her words wouldn't help either, May and Ned felt otherwise knowing about the boy's crush on her.

"It was my fault, Michelle," Peter replied. She went into his room and talked to him. For a good twenty minutes it was all arguing back and forth about whether he was at fault. "Peter, Mysterio had you trapped under his crazy illusions! You did your best to save everyone," Michelle voiced. "Yeah but it still wasn't enough! I'm not enough!" "Don't you dare say that," Michelle huffed. "You are Queen's greatest hero. You've got unnatural gifts to help people. Hell you were asked to be an Avenger! Peter you are enough and I'm not just talking about as Spider-Man. Because you can't have spider-man without Peter Parker. You failed yes, but with failure comes the opportunity to try again. So you need to believe that you can move on and accept what has happened. And then you continue to protect the world." He took her words to heart. He moved past himself from the incident and hunted down for Mysterio, bringing him down and justice to the family who lost the man that died in that explosion.

A soulmate is someone you carry with you forever.

Peter would dread it if he lost her friendship. If he lost her. Having Michelle in his life was like the missing piece of an unsolvable puzzle. Her presence brighten his day unknowingly. He wished all her smiles were directed towards him only. Her jokes and teasing never failed to amuse him. He knew he liked her, though he's never admitted it. He longed to tell her, yet he could never get the words out of his mouth. Fear always built up in him when he'd try. He was afraid that maybe she'd reject him and it'd ruin what they've built, or maybe it was just because he didn't know how to tell her. He reasoned that if he couldn't have her as a lover, he wouldn't jeopardize their friendship. He wanted to have her in his life forever.

It's one person who knew you, accepted you, and believed in you before anyone else or when no one else would.

There was one time Peter was facing some c-classed villain who went by the alias "Mind-Control." Peter didn't see him as much of a threat, until Mind Control managed to put him in a trance. Peter didn't feel any different, but everyone else around him saw him change. May had told Peter repeatedly to clean his room but he just brushed her off. When she scolded back he got a sudden attitude rudely stating back "You can't boss me around. You're not even my mom." The statement broke May, and she chose to ignore him from then on. Ned was the next person he pissed off. Peter's attitude was apparent to him and Ned, in his typical Ned-fashion, kept questioning what was wrong until Peter snapped at him. Ned thought maybe his friend was just not having a good day, but that all changed quickly by lunch. A tingling feeling similar to when he was under Mind Control's hypnosis made him visibly shudder. And by lunch that day he became an entirely different person as well as the talk of the whole school. He had gained overconfidence and his sarcastic quips were spoken out rather than mumbled. He flirted with some girls and schooled some of the jocks at their game. He even flirted with Betty Brant, the one girl Ned liked, and when his friend saw, Ned was so pissed he confronted Peter, yet all the boy did was shrug, ending their long-term friendship. It was like he had become Flash. An egotistical, brainless, pain in the ass, and Michelle Jones was watching it all unfold.

Michelle didn't understand what was happening with Peter, but her suspicions led to the events that happened days before with some new hypnotist villain who managed to capture Spider-Man under his control. Knowing her friend was the hero, she realized this was Peter under a trance.

Even with the mask, Peter wasn't safe from himself. For the last few days, instead of helping people from those that terrorized them, Spider-Man was the one to do so. Terrorizing and causing a ruckus in all of Queens. But Peter didn't know what he was doing. All it took was the petrified scream of an innocent little girl to partially break him out of the trance and when he did so he was confused. He saw parts of the city damaged and people surrounding him with their phones or cameras, and smack dab in the middle was him facing a scared little girl. He was just as scared and worried wondering if he done this. Due to the guilt he shot a web and swung away from the scene as fast as possible.

Michelle and probably everyone else in New-York watched what happened on the T.V. She knew she had to do something. She also knew the one place Peter would hide. So Michelle, on a warpath to find her friend, ran there as fast she could not apologizing for shoving a few people out of her way. She entered a door leading to the rooftop of Peter's apartment building, to find him hidden by the corners of the ledge with agony painting his unmasked face. She walked up to him slowly calling out his name. "Peter Parker, I want to talk to you," she said loud enough for him to hear. "Go away," was shouted back. "No! Not until you tell me what's going." "Stop, MJ. I don't wanna hurt you, I don't know what's happened to me," he responded, his voice cracking. "Well I do, and I know you'd never hurt me. At least not intentionally," Michelle assured him. The longer they spoke the closer she got to him, until among the not so complete darkness she could see his scared face. She was as close as she could, sat down, and reaching out to caress his chiseled face onto her dainty hand.

"It's going to be okay. You were hit by Mind Control. I know this isn't you," Michelle informed him gently. "Now I want Peter back. The Peter who is selfless, kind, and compassionate to all. I want my loser back," she stroked his face with her thumb. It's as if those words coming from her had been the key. And staring into her soft eyes full of hope, he felt another shiver. But this time it had been good, like the spell had been lifted. "Michelle," he asked, leaning in closer to see her face glow as the moon shines on her. "Yeah, Parker. It's me," she confirms. With that, he pulled her in to a tight hug she didn't oppose to. "Thank you," he sighed. She hummed in reply. "Your loser, huh," he asked teasingly. Michelle giggled softly before replying, "Yeah, you and Ned are my losers, and mine only," she claimed. Peter sighed dramatically, but accepted the answer. But they stayed in that position for a while.

Everything had been resolved the day after when he apologized to his friends and family. And as Spider-Man, apologizing to the towns people conveying that his previous actions had been due to the recent villain which he just defeated. All's well that ends well.

And no matter what happens, you'll always love them and nothing could ever change that.

Peter's come to an understanding with his feelings during his train of thought. Who knew that would take only one class period to do so. He's realized he deeply cares for Michelle, loves her even.

He moved his eyes to look towards her figure again. She and him had been the only ones to remain seated as the others raised from theirs to make it out the door for lunch. Michelle was still entertained by her book but simultaneously packed her items and stood up. He did the same, still watching her from afar.

He motivated himself with enough courage. He was determined to ask her on a date during this lunch period. And even if she declined, he wouldn't mind as long as he got to keep her in his life. But he hoped that she would, following her out the door as soon as the bell rung.

It turns out, she liked him just as much accepting his offer, and that date had been the first of many to come.
