Darla in Mediapolis

Chapter 1: Changes

"Darla, you turned into a spoiled brat!" Shirley Temple scolded her 11 year old daughter as she drove her home back to their city of Mediapolis from the fictional Hollywood. 

"I-I'm sorry mom." She said. Darla really was humbled when she started janitoring. Shirley was very angry with Darla. She used to be sweet and caring before she moved to Hollywood 5 years ago. Then she practically turned into a demon. But Shirley forgave Darla. She knew deep inside that Darla was a sweet kid.

After a long ride, they got back home to their huge pink mansion, which looked similar to Darla's in Hollywood,  as Darla wanted it to be similar when she requested it to be built when she moved. 

"MUFFET!" Darla ran up to her 13 year old sister Muffet. Muffet was a doll that came to life. 

"Darla? I can't believe I'm seeing you again!" Muffet and Darla hugged. Muffet hadn't seen her in five years. Shirley was happy her daughters were together again, but not all of them.

"Girls, I wanted to wait until both of you were here, and now you are. You have an older sister." Shirley said. 

"I have another sister?" Darla asked shocked. 

"I remember her. I was only nine years old when she went to juvy." Muffet said sadly. "You were too young to remember her. You were already in Hollywood when she left." She said to Darla.

"Wait. How come I remember you but not her?" Darla asked.

"Mary was never home because she was always busy filming her show. She used to be an actress." Shirley spoke up.

"What is she like?" Darla asked.

"Her hair was in curls like you girls. She always wore purple. She was in a Television show until she kidnapped the other actors and held them hostage because a new child actor stole her popularity, but two heroes named Batman and Robin rescued everyone. Then she got sent to juvy. She just turned 15 not too long ago." Shirley said. "We're going to see her."

Darla and Muffet gasped. "Really?!"

"Yes. But she looks the youngest out of all of us due to a physical condition she has. Please don't tease her about it." 

They drove to the juvenile detention center and saw their sister standing outside with an instructor. "Mary!!" Muffet and Shirley ran up to the fifteen year old girl, who appeared to be five. She still had blonde curls in pigtails and a purple dress.

Mary turned to look at her youngest sister, who was now taller than her. She was astonished. "Darla, is that you? The last time I saw you was when you were in kindergarten." Darla nodded. Mary hugged Darla, and so did she.

Soon they went home. "Mary, you're going into tenth grade next week." Shirley said. 

"High school? That sounds scary." Mary said. She hasn't been to a real school since she was eleven, and even then she barely went because of acting.

Darla was still thinking about her new sister. She was famous like me...and she went to juvy when she was eleven...I'm eleven! Good thing I didn't have to go... 

"Darla, are you okay?" Muffet asked, interrupting her thoughts. 

"Yeah, I'm fine!" She said, sounding like her old self with an attitude. 

"Darla, you're also starting school next week. You'll be in sixth grade." Shirley said. School didn't start that long ago, it was only August still.

"Good thing I'm not alone!" Mary nudged Darla. 

"Yeah, hehe." Darla chuckled nervously.

Going to school and not at home? Will kids know me? I hope the teachers don't hate me... She began to worry.

Each day, Darla got more and more nervous. Then, the first day of school for Darla and Mary came.

"The bus is here, Darla! Don't be nervous, you'll make lots of new friends!" Shirley knelt down to Darla. 

"You're right. I'll try and make friends too. Bye mom!" Darla waved goodbye. Muffet and Mary waved goodbye to Shirley as well.

"Bye!!" Shirley waved back.

Author's note: Yes the Shirley Temple is based off the real actress but here she's turned into more of an OC because I just really like her.
