I've never been the praying kind

Spent too long in the war for that.

I've never been the loving kind,

Got far too much to do for that.

You've always been at my side.

Your goal to keep my secrets.

Eyes as watchful as a hawk's.

Tell me,

Have you ever been the praying kind?

Your blood stains your clothes

Suddenly I'm on my knees

God's name on my lips.

Promise me you won't go,

where I can't follow.

I'd do anything to keep you next to me.

The smoke fills the battlefield.

Not a drop of water in sight,

But I can't make a single spark.

Not with your dying eyes,

Watching me.

I'm useless for the first time

In so long.

I'll have to fight with guns and swords

To get to you.

I can't save you,

But I won't let you die

A pawn in their games.

You'll die in my arms.

Then I'll set the whole world aflame.

I've never been the praying kind

But I'm praying for a miracle right now.

Please promise me,

You won't go where I can't follow.
