There you are— the reader— the adventurous, witty, and, like everyone else, almost out-of-your-mind protagonist you are. You wear a bulletproof vest too big for your torso, with the strength to stop a bullet, but no avail to the thirty-degree environment which no man could ever produce. You shiver and shake, your teeth chatter uncontrollably, and you shyly stand, shoulder-to-shoulder, with other boys and girls, no older than nineteen. The air ruptures with the loud boom of a rifle occasionally as a teen hesitantly fires it off in the general direction of a painted wood target set on two stacked-up cinderblocks about a hundred yards out. Before you know it, you're next up to the trigger. The rifle looks intimidating. Someone uncomfortably shoves earplugs into your ear, you grab the handle, and the stock is pushed straight into your shoulder by a raggedy instructor. You slowly begin to assume the position, and a loud rupture is heard in the air. But you feel no kick in your shoulder. You just feel a sharp punch in the side of your knee. Everything is pretty much blurry after that.
