The black mustang behind us some how managed to go faster than the 120 it was already doing and rammed itself into the back of our pick up. Elliot's fingers went white as he gripped the steering wheel tighter, pressing down on the gas. Jayden was still crying in the back seat. As I turned around to comfort him, i saw the passenger lean out of his window and aim a pistol at us. "Down!" I yelled, twisting back around and sliding as far down as my seat belt would let me. Elliot swerved the car to the right but it was too late. A bullet came crashing though the back window and went out the windscreen covering it in web-like cracks."Everyone okay?" Elliot looks into the mirror at Jayden. His face goes pale. i twist around in my seat to see what was wrong. Jayden was holding their shoulder with their eyes squeezed shut. They were hyperventilating. I looked down at their hand and all i could see was dark red blood. My vision went blurry and all i could see was my mother lying crumpled up in a car like this the same colour covering her chest. "Owen!" Elliot clicked his fingers in front of my face. I snapped out of it and looked over at him. "I asked could you drive because i don't think your up to sewing Jayden back together"I nodded but in reality I'd only ever driven in car parks with my mum or dad. "Great" Elliot pressed his foot on the gas, putting more distance between us and our assailants. when he was happy with the speed he stood up from the seat and I slid in underneath him. I sped back up while he jumped over the seats to the back. I concentrated hard and tried my best to remember everything that mum had taught me but I kept seeing the accident over and over again. I shook my head and rolled down the window a bit to let some fresh air in. I glanced back in the mirror at Elliot. He had Jayden lying flat on the seats and he was kneeing on the ground beside them. He was leaning over them so i couldn't see what he was doing, but I could hear them cryingI then looked out the back window at the black car. They weren't stopping. Right, I thought, neither will we. I needed a plan and I needed one fast because based on the beep the car just made we were running out of gas."You nearly done?" I called into the back."As done as I can be why?" "Just... hold on"There was a bend coming up. I only saw this in action movies. It always worked for them. I couldn't even drive that well though. What other option did i have?I slowed down just enough to let them catch up to us. When they were right behind us, i straightened the wheels and pointed the car straight into the upcoming bend."Owen what the fuck are you doing" he sounded terrified more than angry. "Turn the fucking wheel.""Trust me," I reassured him, though I wasn't sure if I even trusted me. The bend was soon. I needed to do this now. I was sure they didn't have time. I waited a split second more. I turned the wheel as far as it could go to the right barely missing the wall. We turned completely around. I sped off immediately in case it didn't work.as soon as i was sure we weren't being followed i slowed down. "It worked, it actually worked!" I couldn't help but smile."We could have died" Elliot was trying to sound angry but he looked proud. "I think we should go back check they're out for the count just in case."I turned back around and headed back towards that bend. Before we even got there I could see the fire and smoke. Their car exploded, presumably with them still in it."Well done you mad bastard," Elliot ruffled my hair. "I don't think we need to worry about being followed anymore
