Chapter 29: Wrong Time

Turning to climb down the wall Jay slipped on a loose shingle. Gasping he tried keeping himself steady but the blue ninja accidentally pushed (Y/n) over the wall landing in the monastery's courtyard.

A gasp escaped her lips as she landed upright but not without drawing attention to herself. Three sets of eyes were now on her, two confused and one filled with panic.

The four ninja ducked under the wall listening to the interaction hoping the (h/c) haired girl can weasel her way out of this situation.
As they listened they couldn't help but send a small annoyed glare at the blue ninja but there's nothing they can do now.

Past Kai and Nya stared at the peculiar visitor as Sensei Wu greeted the girl nervously. "What are you doing here?" He greeted warily thinking of a way to not break her cover.

(Y/n) took a deep breath composing herself from the sudden slip in the plan. "I finished scouting for the Skulkin sensei" the girl lied and bowed for Sensei Wu rolling with an act. "They were heading west from Ignacia but they covered their tracks in the woods."

Past Wu gave a faint nod holding up the lie "We'll cross paths with them again so don't fret....my pupil?" The old man bit his lip as he didn't catch your name.

"Who are you?" Past Nya asked the masked girl curiously as she stood next to her brother. Past Kai stared at (Y/n) cautiously as he stood in front of his sister protectively.

"She is one of my students, her name is...uh" Past Sensei Wu introduced as she stepped up confidently.

"Mariposa" (Y/n) introduced herself smiling kindly under her mask.
"My name is Mariposa. I assume you two are Sensei's new students?" (Y/n) asked keeping up a friendly persona in contrast to her demeanor earlier.

"Dang she's good" Jay whispered to the others complimenting (Y/n)'s ability to adapt. The four observed the girl curiously learning from example.

"Well my name is Nya and this is my brother Kai" the girl in red smiled as her brother continued staring down (Y/n) with his arms crossed.

(Y/n) took the moment to glance at the wall sending the blue ninja a glare for getting her in this deeper mess.

"Are you also here to teach us as well?" Past Kai raised an eyebrow "Why are you wearing a mask? Hiding something?" Past Nya frowned nudging her brother for being rude.

"Why aren't you?" (Y/n) retorted stepping forward shrugging her shoulders "But if you'd like I can teach you something..."

"Unless you can't handle it?" She muttered lowly with a smirk watching the future fire ninja let out a huff.

"Oh I can" Past Kai grumbled as the two stood opposite of one another while Nya and Wu stood off to the side. "How hard can it be?" he smirked before charging at the girl.

Easily sidestepping the spiky haired boy's punch (Y/n) hit him precisely in the stomach. Past Kai coughed profusely as he knelt over in pain.

Future Kai couldn't help but cringe at the sight imagining how rough the blow would be.

"Giving up already Porcupine? Where are your quills unless they're supposed to be your hair?" The masked girl mocked gesturing for the future fire ninja to get up.

"You caught me off guard" Past Kai hissed as he stood back up and threw off his blacksmith apron tossing it aside. "And no one makes fun of my hair" he glared back clenching his fists.

"(Y/n)'s trying to anger him" Zane noted telling his brothers after catching onto the girl's plan. "Kai doesn't like losing and that stubbornness might be a good motivator" the ice ninja stroked his chin in thought as they watched the fight.
