The blond hair just avoided my eye that seemed more enhanced, I mean they seemed brighter and darker at the same time by only a little bit of eye liner. My lips just seemed colored in a bit more than they already were but with a pink than the red they are naturally; I felt like I was looking at a completely different person but I guess that was the idea, look different, sound different, act different, be different.
Everything began to move very fast, mother all but dropped the mirror in front of me and grabbed my hand, I was being dragged to the main hall where we had celebrations and parties, down corridors, through doors. Soon I was through the final door and was now facing a sea of faces; my mind was miles behind, not wait I'm pretty sure it was still in my bed room. Father welcomed everyone in the room and every quickly started chatting after words.
I let out a sigh and hobbled down the stairs to join everyone else; I was about to fall then a welcoming familiar face met mine and gracefully caught me before I could make a fool out of myself.
"Mister Nicolas, how are you this fine evening" She grinned, speaking formally always sounded funny to us.
"Miss Violet how love it is to see you, and to your question, I would be much better if I wasn't stuck in a frilly dress as heels to boot" I dropped my formal manner and scowled.
"Now, now don't do that it's very unladylike" violet giggles at the mess I'm in.
"Well you try masquerading in male clothes and pretending to be a boy" I say without thinking. "Can you please teach me how to walk in these things" I pleaded the one of the only sane minds I know.
"Sure walking is easy but dancing is another question" she took pity on me and began to teach me how to walk.
Violet was meant to be my bride but when my parents found out I'm gay they called it off thankfully and violet who had no hard feelings became my friend. "So tell my why you are in a dress" she asked curiously.
"The family that has come back to the town have a gay son but they want him to marry a woman, they say to him anything in a skirt will do" I informed her quietly "so this thing was my parents idea" I say pulling on one of the many frills.
"Oohh got it so I'm your wing woman" she beamed; I nodded as I need all the help I can get tonight.
Most of the night we spent laughing and my efforts of walking, I'd almost get the hang of it when people began to stop talking and their attention were focuses on the balcony that I had exited from; so we had our action on it as well.
A family of three stood there proud and tall, all of them were in fine garments. The man and woman gad their arms linked and the other was stood next to them but unlike his parents who were smiling, he as not, it was as if he really wished not to be here.
There was a loud chorus of welcome back and they dispersed to the crowd and their son separated from then. Me and violet payed no attention to the rest of the crowd, violet was now teaching me how to twirl without falling flat on my face. By the time I did it successfully twice our little bubble popped when someone cleared their throat next to me.
I must have tensed and jumped a mile in the air before turning rather gracefully to face the person; my surprise must have shown on my face as I was now facing the son of the high family in this city. I could feel violet smirking behind me.
"Violet please don't look at me in that tone of voice" I could feel myself cringe as the words left my lips.
"Aww you're not fun Nicky" she winked at me; I just looked at her questioningly.
"Would either of you care to dance" the boy in fount of us asked.
"I would love to but I'm too afraid to make a fool of you out there" I say remorsefully with a little bow.
"Oh Nicky go for it " Violet nudged me forwards, this must have been the invitation he need to pull on to the dance floor where a slow waltz had started up, in the inside I was crying, I'm going to kill violet when I find her, actually who know if I could still walk by the end of tonight.
"Whats your name my fair lady" He asked looking into my eyes, my grip on him tightened slightly as I stumbled for the first time of many.
"I am Nicolas Jones of this house hold, and what is ours my kind sir." I say as formally as possible.
"I am Alexander of the high family, now tell me do you always wear girl's clothes" HE asked with an evident smirk.
"Well for the possible sake of pleasing my family and possible yours as anything in a skirt will do right" I sighed and almost missed the horrid look he had at those words.
"And that's why you're wearing a dress and make-up" Alexander rose an eye brow at me.
"Yes, mother dearest is very persistent" I rolled my eyes and payed for it be nearly falling.
"I bet she is" He chuckled.
