So, I know no one is reading this story, but I enjoy writing it. It's kind of boring in the last chapter, but it will get better. Maybe.

This is it! My first day at my new school. I am so excited! I have never really fit in anywhere. I've always been an outcast, like I can never do anything right. I always say the wrong things or look the wrong way. I hate it. I get bullied because I'm kind of a nerd. I don't let it bother me. They're basically calling me smart.

When I was little, I was such an extrovert. Always out there in the world and very, very loud. This was until about fifth grade. I don't know why, but I started spending more time by myself in the corner of the room reading a book. I think I started doing this because I realized being loud and annoying wasn't getting me anywhere and I was being hated on even more than when I was quiet. I still talked to people and tried to think of jokes that always didn't end well and stuff like that. I just enjoyed being quiet more.

That's when I became a 'nerd'. My class mates think this because I always read. Reading is an escape from the world. I don't have that great of a life, and reading is an escape route. It can take me to another planet, another part of the country, a different universe, and it's all so amazing. Sometimes, my teachers would have to yell at me for reading in class. Hey, I already know all this stuff!

I read about history, architecture, animals, and so much more. I like knowing things and being smarter than my classmates. But, my favorite genre is fantasy. There are so many different things you can do with fantasy. Fly to another world. Do magic at a special wizarding school. Go to Camp Halfblood to train to defeat monsters. I would love to be in one of those books.

Wow, I got off topic. Anyways, it's my first day at my new school and I'm so excited because of all the amazing things I've heard! Apparently all the kids are great, all the teachers are great, and they have an awesome basketball team. I'm soooo excited! The end of 7th grade will be amazing.

I arrived on the school bus and sat alone, so I could read. No one seemed to notice me, which I was fine with, so they left me alone. Once I got there, I headed to the front office to get my schedule and get a tour of the school. I had already memorized a map of this school and was able to get there easily.

As I was going down the hall, I get stopped by a girl who was obviously one of those girls who I guess is considered 'popular'. Y'know, she wears to much make up, very revealing clothes, and has the minions following her. This was definitely one of those girls.

"Hi! I'm Amanda! This is Emma and Kate" She said gesturing to the two girls behind her. "I'm guessing your the new student?" Amanda asked with one of those fake smiles.

"Umm.. Yeah. My name is Olivia. Olivia Saunders." I replied with a small smile. Couldn't hurt to make a new friend.

"Great! I'll show you to the office. That's where your going, right?" She asked as she and her 'friends' started leading me down the hall. I nodded weakly.

"By the way Olivia, maybe you should try a new look. Sweatshirts and baggy jeans are no ones style." She said. I was actually offended by this. What's wrong with a Hufflepuff sweatshirt with my favorite pair of jeans? Besides, we don't have the money for new clothes.

"Yeah, I'm good. Thanks though" I said. I started to look around as we walked. Plenty of people looked at Amanda in disgust and a bunch jocks just drooled over her. Looks like I was right.

"What is a Hufflepuff anyways? Is it like some off-brand clothing line?" She asked. What?!? How could she not understand Harry Potter?!?

"Uhh, no actually it's from Harry Potter. One of my favorite book series." I said. I could tell she frowned at that.

"Oh, so your a nerd." Oh no she didn't. Actually, no. I will take that as a compliment.

"Why, yes. I am smarter than all of you. Thank you very much." I said smartly. Amanda looked taken aback by this comment. Apparently people don't usually talk back to her. Hey! Just because I'm a Hufflepuff doesn't mean I can't fend for myself. When she regained her composure, she snapped back.

"I'll have you know, that I get straight A's and B's!" She said.

"Why? Because you bribe all the teachers? Or maybe blackmail." I replied. I really am not liking this girl. Just as she was about to snap back, a teacher came up to the two of us, probably noticing the crowd.

"Excuse me girls, is there a problem here?" The teacher asked. She was short with brown hair and blue eyes. She was obviously one of those strict teachers who have a soft side. Maybe I can get that teacher to show her soft side towards me.

"Actually, Yes Ms. Alexander." Amanda responded sweetly. Oh. So she's also one of the girls who acts nice in front of adults. Great. "Olivia here was making fun of me and calling me dumb! She should get detention, don't you think?" I looked at her completely aghast. Now she's blaming me?! Just as I was about to retort, the teacher -Ms. Alexander- interrupted.

"Is this true, Ms...?" She asked.

"Olivia Saunders. No, she was making fun of me. I simply have snappy comebacks." I said

Amanda did a very obviously fake gasp. "You see, Ms! She is even lying to teachers!"

"Let me handle this, Ms. Stevens." Ms. Alexander said smoothly. "Miss Saunders? Please follow me."

I thought for sure I was in trouble for nothing. Just because I don't have much money, and I like to read does not give her the right to make fun of me. I don't like it when people do that. Once we had rounded the corner, out of Amanda's sight and earshot, Ms. Alexander started speaking.

"I'm so sorry she's already picking on you on your first day. Did she say anything to harsh?" She asked. Maybe I will like this teacher. She seems to see right through Amanda.

Okay, so this was kind of a filler chapter, but it gives you some more information on out main character. See who she is. I'll be back in the present and it will have more action in the next chapter. Bye for now!
