We finished unpacking other than the stuff the moving men brought in but we finished bringing the boxes into the house and stuff.
"I'm going for a walk" I said after everything had settled down.
"Okay sweetie be back by 7 the latest."
"Alright mum love you"
"Love you too," I heard faintly as I closed the door behind me.
I stuffed my hands into my black jeans after I adjusted my snap-back so it was on backwards. I pulled out my phone and shoved my headphones into my ears.I clicked shuffle and turned the volume all the way up. I needed to drown my thoughts in the beautiful tunes of 'How To Save a Life by The Fray'.
I walked with my head down. My feet pushing against the pavement as I sped up a little bit. I pulled out a pack of cigarettes and looked at them. My friend Zayn gave them to me before I left New Jersey he told me to "enjoy myself". What a lovely gift. I put them back into my pocket.
I hadn't realized how far I had walked until I ran into the leg of a park bench that I hadn't seen. I guess I had walked to a near-by park or something. Cool I guess. I sat down on the bench and pulled out my phone putting 'The Reason By Hoobastank' on repeat before shoving it into my pocket again. I looked around at the park. It was beautiful. Fall had come just before we moved but it wasn't very pretty in New Jersey. But here I had to admit It was lovely. I kept looking around, the park was empty except for me and some squirrels and birds.
I pulled out the pack of cigarettes again and ripped the lighter he had tapped to the side of the box off. I took one out of the box and placed it in between in my lips. I lit the end of it and smoked it for a while.
I should start over I thought to myself. New school, new home, new people. I can be like the bad ass maybe. wait...That would require confidence something I most definitely do not have. "You could be yourself" I'd rather not get beaten to death. Maybe i'll just be like um the class clown. Yeah. Yeah! I could humiliate myself for others enjoyment! EH wrong. I think I'll be like the normal kids. Their cool. My best friends were the "normal" ones (to some extent). But yeah okay that sounds good and if that doesn't work i'll be the turtle again, hide all my feelings and act alright. That basically the normal kid but whatever. I thinking about this waaaayy to much what the fuck. Everything's gonna be fine it's a new start.
After I finished the cigarette it threw in the ashtray next to the bench and got up. I looked at my phone it was 9:30! Shit I didn't realize It was so late! The time passed so quickly ugh, how the fuck did that even happen. I began picking my speed up as I tried remembering the way I had come from. My head was down and that was a bad mistake. I bumped hardly into the bulky stranger walking at me with his head down also.
"s-ssorry" I mumbled hardly glancing up.
"It's alright mate! I wasn't watching where I was going either" A smooth voice said "wait..? I've never seen you around before are you new?" He questioned.
"Um yeah I just moved in earlier today I live in that house" I said pointing at the pale yellow house.
"Oh cool I live in the one right next door! I'm ashton by the way. What's your name" His sweet voice said.
"Im Lucas, but everyone calls me Luke heh.." I said my voice trailing off at the end.
"Awesome! I guess i'll see you around maybe we can catch up at school tomorrow and I can show you around. Only if i'm correct that your going to Winchester High." He talked quickly.
"yeah I am and that'd be great thanks. i guess i'll see you tomorrow." I said and we started walking closer to our houses. I got near my steps and turned to say" Bye its was nice meeting you. Ashton right?"
"Yeah haha nice meeting you too bye!" He said as he walked into his house.
I walked into my house. Quietly shutting the door behind me I turned around to have Jack's face right near mine. I screamed and he put his hand over my mouth.
"Where were you! I stalled mom for you!" he whisper yelled.
"I lost track of time and where I was!" I whispered back.
"Lame excuse but fine." He replied "Don't let it happen again."
"Yes mother" I taunted at him.
He stuck his tongue out and walked away. I walked up to my room I was actually really tired when I'm normally up all night. So I got into my pj's and climbed into bed.
I wonder what school is gonna be like tomorrow. I wonder if I can trust Ashton.
Maybe just Maybe we'll be friends.
