But one night, there parents are having a heated argument about his dad never finding a stable job. There mom works at a pharmacy near there apartment, but her salary isn't enough to pay all of there expenses. They only have 2 weeks left and after that they will be kicked out of there apartment if they don't pay there unpayed bills.
(Y/N) went to her brother's room and ran to his side and cried.
“Don't cry, (Y/N). They'll be okay tomorrow morning.” 13 year old Niall said comforting a 10 year old (Y/N), even though he knows that it's not true
They've been fighting every now and then, and it's not getting better. Nothing is getting better. So the married couple decided to have a divorce.
“Niall don't go please. Don't leave me alone. You are my best friend. You're the only one who is making me happy when I'm sad.” (Y/N) said as she hugs her brother very tight never wanting to let go
“(Y/N), you'll be fine. I believe in you.” Niall said
“You're really leaving me?” She asks her hearts slowly breaking into pieces “But you promise me that I'll always have you.”
“Yes, you'll always have me. I'll never leave you. Remember what I taught you on how to use the walkie-talkie?” He asked and she nods, tears pouring down her cheeks “You can call me there and we can talk until we get tired.”
“But who is going to help me build a fort?”
“I know that you can figure it out. You're my little sister, you always know how to make things work.”
“I can't do it without you, Niall.” She said sobbing
“Yes you can. Just believe in yourself.” Niall said fighting back the tears from pouring down his cheeks because he wants to show his sister that he is strong
“Please don't go.” She whispered and hugged him again
Then Niall's name was called by there mother and was asked to get inside the cab.
“I forgot to give you this.” Niall said giving (Y/N) a tape. “Whenever you miss me, just play this tape alright?”
She nods tears still streaming down her face “I'll miss you, Niall.”
“I'll miss you too, (Y/N).” He said hugging her for the last time then he went inside the car
“No! Niall!” She said running to his brother but she was pulled by her dad “Let me go!”
Niall watches her sister cry for help, but this time, he can't do anything to save her. He broked down in tears as they were now few meters away from the house he used to live.
It's been a week since his brother and mothet left. (Y/N) had a very bad day in school, she was bullied by her classmates and went home with a wound on her knee. If her brother was here, he will clean her wound and kiss it to make it feel better. Then he'll tell her that just ignore them, and everything they say about her isn't true.
But this time, she'll do this on her own. Her dad is busy talking to someone on the telephone and doesn't have time to spend time with her daughter.
“Niall.” She said through the walkie-talkie “Niall, hello?”
No answer.
“Niall?” It was still the static sound that she hear from the other end
She sighed and put the walkie-talkie back to her drawer. When she opened her closet to change into pajamas, something dropped when she pulled out her shirt. It was the tape that Niall gave to her before he left.
She went to her brother's room with the tape in her hand, plugging the cassette player and playing it.
“Oh! We're halfway there! Oh! Livin' on a prayer!” She giggled when she heard his voice “I know you hate this song, but I know that it will make you laugh. How is school today?”
“Not good.” She answered as if she's really talking to him
“Well that's okay. What did I told you?” He asked
“Ignore the bullies.” They both said at the same time
“Alright?” He said and she nods “I miss you so much. Just hang in there and we will be together soon, (Y/N). I love you!” Then the tape ended
“I love you too.” She whispered her eyes getting watery
Years have passed and both of them grew successfully, (Y/N) is now a nurse in London and Niall is now a famous international superstar. There parents are still divorced but this time, they have there own family. At first it was difficult for Niall and (Y/N), but throughout they learned to accept and just be happy with there parents.
Niall is currently in London to perform for his Flicker Tour and he e invited (Y/N) to attend. The fact that she was so excited to see him perform, she asked her boss to have her a day off.
Once she was seated on one of the VIP sits in the arena, she smiled at the stage that she's looking at. She is so proud for his brother.
She watched her perform and sing at the top of his lungs. But this time, he is using a real mic and he is really standing on an actual stage, instead of using his bed and her brush.
“This song, wasn't included in the Flicker album, but I want to perform it for the first time here in London, live, because this song is for someone who is very special to me and she's in the arena watching me perform tonight.” He said looking at her direction and smiled “I wrote this song when I was 14 with the acoustic guitar that my father gave me. This special person that I'm talking about, she used to love playing barbie dolls and building forts with me. She is also my number one fan. She's seen me perform every Friday night when I was little. And she hates it when I sing rock songs.” She giggled after he said that “But she loves it when I sing with my acoustic guitar. And this 'she' is my beautiful and loving sister.”
Then the fans cheered and a spotlight was directed on (Y/N) “This song is entitled 'So Long' and I dedicate this song for you, (Y/N).”
When the song ended, (Y/N) was in tears and kept wiping it but it won't stop. She was so happy.
“I love you.” She mouthed to Niall and she saw that Niall's eyes were glassy
He smiled and stood up from his chair and walked to her direction. He went down on the stage and hugged her very tight.
“I love you so much.” He said through her ears “You'll always have me, (Y/N).”
“Pinky swear?” She said pulling away from the hug and raising her pinky finger
“Pinky swear.”
