you looked at the knights, then at link, then at the knights again.

ah.

it seems like you weren't the only one that got a 'promotion'.

it looked like link had become some kind of importance to the guards, not exactly captain, but perhaps the role beneath it. he was showing the new recruits around the castle and he just so happened to arrive at the time of your argument, you glanced back at celeste and saw her fixing her maid's dress.

you rolled your eyes again and stood straight while you heard footsteps coming from behind you. 

"y/n."

you turned around fully, and smiled lightly at link. the new knights separated and started talking to the maids and butlers.

"link."

your cheeks burned, but not as much as they used to before. you were finally warming up to link and you thanked the goddesses above for that. link looked at you and raised a brow, his blue eyes scanning you up and down the same way as the butlers did. 

your cheeks were now burning hot.

his iris returned to yours, a small pink hue on his cheeks and ears. you coughed awkwardly and looked at the building where zelda's room was.

"u-uh, i was just about to go and clean princess zelda's room, um, u-uh, i guess i'll see you later?"

link nodded and smiled sweetly at you.

"hiii, link. i'm celeste, i'm one of y/n's good friends!"

link looked behind you and awkwardly stared at celeste, her finger still twirling her hair and her eyes batting intensely at link. she gave him a little wave and giggled.

you felt yourself grow a little jealous. you turned your attention back to him.

"link, don't you have a job to do? you know, showing the new knights around?"

link nodded at you and was about to leave when celeste cut him off.

"hold on y/n! we haven't even finished talking yet, oh, liiink, i've seen the way you train in the grounds. goddesses, it's sooo attractive."

celeste bit her lip and stared deeply into link's blue eyes, a small giggle escaping her pink lips.

you internally groaned and watched link.

link looked awfully embarrassed, his cheeks grew a little pink at the compliment and he stood oddly. he was shifting around a lot and he kept glancing back at you. celeste kept blabbering about how good link was at his job and you couldn't take it anymore.

"link, i'm going to go now and i'd advise you to do the same."

link said nothing and only stared at you with a still expression, but surprised eyes. you turned on your heel and started walking towards zelda's room again, hopefully this time no one would bother you. 

you walked up the stone stairs and sneaked a peak at link and celeste.

she was still chatting to him, ever so slowly inching more and more towards him. you glared at her and kept walking up until you reached the doorway. you placed a hand on the knob and stared silently at it. you decided to take in another peak at what celeste was doing now.

you slowly turned, making sure you weren't too obvious and watched the two hylians.

oh my goddesses.

celeste had fully moved right in front of link. her right hand on his bicep, laughing and giggling. she rubbed his arm once. twice. then batted her eyes again and pushed herself towards him. you felt a fire grow inside of you as you kept watching her actions, you couldn't believe how confident she was! she was pretty much throwing herself at link.

you shook your head and entered zelda's room, where the princess herself was lying on her bed with a book in her hands. 

"reading about ancient guardians again, princess?"

"oh! y/n, please, just call me zelda, i've told you we're friends."

"right, sorry, i...forgot."

zelda smiled at you and patted a spot on the large bed next to her. you walked over and gently kicked off your shoes and laid down with the princess. 

as zelda was showing you the different types of guardians in the book, the door slowly opened to reveal her appointed knight. zelda's green eyes narrowed.

"ah, link. i didn't expect you to bother me today."

you glanced at zelda and frowned a little. her words were still sour and you looked over at link. you wanted to tell the princess that she was being a little harsh towards her knight but you kept your place and said nothing.

of course, link was unfazed.

the young knight quietly apologised to zelda and looked at you, his eyes diving in deep into yours. 

"link? what are you staring at...? oh! it must be her new dress! y/n stand up and twirl for us!"

"w-what?!"

"princess's orders!"

zelda poked her tongue out and watched you as you groaned and stood up from the bed and twirled around, making the dress flow nicely.

"isn't it beautiful, link? she looks absolutely gorgeous!"

you looked over at link for a reply but of course, you got nothing. typical link.

"what's the matter link? don't like it? oh well, there's more where that came from."

zelda chuckled and stood up as well and fixed her champion's outfit. 

"i suppose you're here to take me to zora's domain, correct?"

link nodded.

"let's go then."

zelda gave you a quick hug and left the room with a notebook and pencil in her hand. you followed her out of the door when link lifted his arm and stopped you from exiting the room. you grew hot, your body quickly getting nervous at the mysterious and rather forward gesture link just made at you. you slowly looked up at him and noticed that he was slightly leaning down to whisper to you.

"i think you should definitely wear that dress more often."
