The sun continued to move to the West and Alex was annoyed and impatient. He had been walking for hours and he couldn't find any food or water. He didn't want to spend the night in this ridiculous forest. He started to notice that he hasn't heard any birds since the time he woke up. All he could hear were the trees swaying in the wind. These goddamn trees...

"I should probably eat a Snicker's bar, you're just not you when you're hungry." Alex chuckled lightly and sat down against a tree. He wanted to give up and go to sleep but something kept making him get back up to find a way out. The forest was extremely quiet and this unnerved him.

Alex was exhausted and just wanted to sleep. But then he smelled something familiar on the breeze that came by. It smelled fresh and lovely. He got up quickly and followed the smell. He walked a good five minutes untill he found what he was looking for.

Alex couldn't believe his eyes. The lake before him was absolutely breath taking. It wasn't all that large but it looked so beautiful with it's blue and glistening water. There were obviously trees surrounding it but nothing else. Alex walked up to the lake and dropped to his knees. He was about to cup water with his hand and drink when something stopped him.

He took a good look at the water in front of him. He could see straight through it. He saw rocks in the water but nothing else. There were no ripples of any life on or in the lake. No algae, scum, or plants anywhere. He saw and heard no insects near the water and became extremely sceptical. Alex tried to figure out what was wrong with the lake.

His hand was hovering above the water and shaking violently. He was so thirsty and it took all his will power not to dip his hand in. His whole body was shaking with the urge to drink and it was unbearable. He could imagine the nice, cool water rushing through his mouth and sliding wonderfully down his throat. His mouth started to salivate and he was breathing heavily. He wanted it all inside his stomach. He imagined the sloshing that would occur in his stomach if he drank enough.

Alex couldn't take it no more and started cupping handfuls of water into his mouth. He couldn't think of what was wrong with the lake and it didn't matter to him no more. It tasted so cool and fresh like straight from a store-bought water bottle. Alex continued to breathe heavily even when he was done. It felt so good that he dipped his head in it. He about drowned himself in the lake before he regained some self-control and took his head back out of the water.

Alex slowly got up and walked away. His gut kept grinding when he thought of staying with the lake. He had become unusually obsessed with it and was about to bathe in it. He then thought better and slowly walked away. He continued to walk in the opposite direction, looking back only once to look at the unusual lake.

Alex felt drowsy and good. He definitely drank a lot and the sky showed that it was late evening. He still had that weird anxious feeling from before, but he decided to ignore it. Nothing bad happened to him except for the amnesia.

He was about lay down next to a tree when he heard loud rustling above him. He looked up only to see branches swaying wildly. Alex felt extremely frightened and wasn't going to stay to see what caused such a ruckus.

Alex ran with renewed energy. He kept running until he felt he was far enough away. His heart was a beating machine and his breathing was heavy. He stopped to catch his breath. He looked around to see nothing but trees once again.

As he looked around, he saw something catch his eye. It was a little bit aways and it looked like the dark silhouette of a human being. Alex felt his heart jump out of relief and he ran towards the figure. His footsteps making loud crunching noises on dead leaves.
