you make me hate the color green

there's algae in the pond that makes me think of new

life even though leaves are falling around us as we stroll

past it all. your hand reaches for mine as we float along the path.

i drain a cup filled with a drink the shade of lime.

you lick the remnants of the sugar rim off my lips

and i'm comfortable with you towing me through the crowd.

the neon wrapper of a Trojan twisted pleasure

is sexiled under the bed while we lay tangled up above

on my twin-sized mattress adorned with age torn sheets.

behind our heads, the grass pillows are a luscious forest

green. your thumb lightly caresses my hand and the blades

of grass caress my cheek as i stargaze into your eyes.

a faded green stains my skin where the cheap copper

ring you put on my fourth was for weeks after you left.

it reminds me that you promised more than you delivered.
