Juvie ...?

I wanted to look good in front of Juvie . "I smoke !" I pleaded . Toya looked at me skeptically . "I do . Give it here !" She passed it to me .

I smoked a doobie that my dad left out when I was 12 before . All you have to do is hit it , inhale , & exhale .

Everybody in the room stared at me as I took a long first hit . I inhaled. As I exhaled , I felt a cough rising up in my throat . I tried to hold it , but I couldn't ... I started coughing . I felt like I was dying . Tears filled my eyes .

The boys flew back on the couch & kicked their feet laughing . Toya turned to the side , but I still heard her laughing .

"Phat , go get her some fucking water , nigga !" Toya yelled at him . He hopped up still laughing & brought me a water .

I began drinking it . If it helped , I couldn't tell . I was still coughing for about 2 more minutes .

Toya took the blunt from me . "Damnit , Lahni . You done let the blunt go out ." She snatched a lighter off the table , relit it , & started back smoking .

The boys where still laughing . "Leave my baby alone . Ugly ass niggas ." Toya lead me to the other couch with her . "Girl , fuck them . They always like this with they dusty asses . If you wanna smoke , I'll teach you how to smoke . I'm not stopping you from doing shit that you wanna do , & I'm not forcing you to do anything you don't want to . Just don't be wasting weed & shit ."

I sat quietly for a minute . Toya smokes every single day , & she's always happy & in a good me . Every time I've been around a high person , they're always chill or in a really bubbly mood . I wanted to experience that .

"Show me how to smoke ." I said quietly to Toya .

"You're a beginner . You fucked up when you pulled that hoe for a whole ass minute . Don't take hits that long . Just puff on it a lil bit , inhale it , hold it for a lil bit , & let it go ."

I did as she instructed . I still coughed a little , but it was better than earlier . Before I knew it , I felt like I was floating . I was enjoying this feeling . Everything was 10x funnier than it should've been . I wanted to talk , dance , & EAT . I was ready for the party to begin now .

"Juvie , when we picking up the food ? I got the munchies ." Kz asked .

"Food ? Fooood ?" Juvie looked at him like he was crazy . "What food ? Nigga , I told you it's b-w-o-f . Bring yo own food . I just invited muhfuckas to dance & shit ."

"Bro , you can't have a fucking party without food . You deadass serious about that shit ?" Kz shook his head .

"Nah . I'm bullshittin . Ride with me to get this pizza , nigga ."

They got up & headed towards the door .
I got up & started following them . "You riding or some shit , lil mama ?" Kz asked making Juvie look back  "I'm hungry ." I responded laughing . I don't know why I was laughing , but I couldn't stop for a minute causing everybody else to laugh with me .

"Come on , shordy . I'll get you something to eat ." Juvie motioned for me to follow him & Kz .

I looked back at Toya before I left . She was asleep on the couch with her phone in her hand .

I followed them to the car . A black 2018 Dodge Challenger . "Aye . Let shordy in the front ."

Kz smacked his lips . "Man , Hell naw . I ain't sitting in the back like no lil ass ki-" Juvie cut him off . "Stay yo ass here then , bitch ."

"Shid , I will ." He walked back towards the house . "Yea . Hoe ass niggas always tryna play me like a lil ass kid cause a nigga short . Fuck y'all niggas ." He flicked Juvie off before slamming the door .

He laughed & got into the car . I got in on the passenger side .

"Ight , so whatchu tryna eat while we over here , shordy ."

"Uhhhhhhhhhh ." I looked around at all the restaurants surrounding us . "Lemme get some food ."

He looked at me & laughed . "Mayne , you bout high as hell . Yo susta shoulda neva let you hit tha bleezy . We just gone go to Cane's . You coo with that , shordy ?"

I looked at him & smiled showing him my teeth & shook my head .

"I ain't know you had braces . Lil cute ass ." He smiled , bit his lip , & turned into Cane's drive through .

A boy just called me cute ...

"Cockle doodle doo , how can I help you !?"

"Uh yea . Lemme get the caniac combo with extra fries & a lemonade ."

"Okay . Anything else , sir ?"

"Yea . Hollup ." He looked over at me playing with my fingers & shaking my hair . "Uh . Whatchu want , shordy ?" He looked at me funny .

"Just get me whatever ."

"Say , bro . Double that ."

"2 caniac combos with extra fries & a lemonade ?"

"Yea ."

"Alrightyyy then ! Your total will be 19.96 at the first window ."

He got the food , & we drove off . He handed me mine , & I began to eat immediately , not caring that he was there . "Thank you , Juvenile ."

He looked over at me . "Yoo . Whatchu just called me ?"

I covered my mouth realizing what the hell I just called him . "I-"

He burst out laughing , cutting me off . "Yoooo . What the fuckkk ? You str8 , shordy . You just don't need to smoke nomo . Let's get this pizza & get yo ass back to tha crib forreal ."

I just sat there silent & embarrassed .

We went & got the pizza & went back to the party . Once we made it back , there was music playing & people standing around outside .
