Birdflash AU:

Where Richard Grayson is the adopted son of billionaire Bruce Wayne and Wally West is the Nephew to Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen. Both admire their favorite superhero sidekicks: Robin and Kid Flash. Where one day Wally asks one of his many stupid questions to Dick.

-----------

"What if we were the superhero sidekicks?"

"Huh?" asked Dick, who really wasn't paying attention to Wally. He was more focused on his Calculus homework.

"What if we acquired superpowers?" Wally rephrased his question.

"Robin doesn't have powers, you idiot," Dick said not even looking up from the textbook.

Wally frowned and snatched the textbook away from Dick. Dick leaned back into his chair and crossed his arms as he glared at the redhead.

"Well, first of all, you're too clumsy and I'm pretty sure you'll get yourself killed in the first 5 seconds" chimed Dick.

"Wow, way to have faith in your best friend there bud. I wholeheartedly think you'll be amazing as Robin, being flexible and all." Wally wriggled his eyebrows at the smaller boy.

"Dude!" Dick looked away, a faint blush appearing on his cheeks. He regrets ever showing wally his acrobatic skills.

"And I think I'll do great as Kidflash because I'm the best runner in our school's track team." Wally pointed to himself.

"And that's all your good at. The only reason you can even attend Gotham academy is because of that track scholarship." Dick remarked, smiling as Wally crossed his arms and huffed out his frustration.

Dick swiveled his chair back to face the desk, he had hoped to finish his homework at Wally's house, but that's clearly not happening. Dick looked back at the frustrated teenager, who was now spread across the bed whispering incoherent words, staring up at the ceiling and felt a small twinge of guilt.

Keyword small.

Dick let out a very audible sigh and went to join Wally on the bed.

"In my opinion, I'd think you'd be a better Kidflash." Wally smiled at the comment then frowned.

"I wish I was Kidflash. I'm too boring."

"Wally... No your not. No one can run as fast as you can. They need superspeed to even beat you. Pretty sure you can beat the Guinness World Record." Wally smirked at the thought.

"I'm the one that can't be a superhero, not with a protective dad over my shoulders 24/7." Dick sighed now laying parallel to Wally.

"Dude, with your smarts and level of acrobatic talent you can outsmart anyone and potentially even have a chance with the bad guys!" Dick smiled at his best friend.

Both boys now staring into each other's eyes, blue meeting green. Both lost in thought, thinking of the possibilities of the question. It got quiet, but it was comfortable silence.

Both thinking "Being a superhero? Just not us..."

Wally spoke, startling the younger boy from his thoughts, "You know, there's a theory on multiple universes and Earths. That maybe we are Robin and Kidflash on another Earth.

Before Dick could reply, Aunt Iris shouted from downstairs, "Boys! Lunch is ready!"

Not even a second later Wally raced towards downstairs leaving the question in the dust. Dick jumped off the bed and laughed, "wouldn't that be astrous?" Quickly following Wally out of the room.
