“Nandni....!” familiar voice fell at her ears. The same voice she thought, now she would never listen again. Then silence lingered for long creeping moments. Then she whipped her head up so fast, it was miracle her neck was still intact to her shoulders.
Manik lying at bed staring at her. His eyes shimmering with pure love. The effect of her every magical word she was speaking, brought a content smile at his face. His stance, however looked predatory, as if he was ready to strike at his prey any moment.
“Are you ok. I mean you aren’t in comma. I mean that doctor was saying....!” though she couldn’t locate her voice still she tried and in the middle of her sentence she just stopped. Wiping her tears, now she realised that she didn’t even listen properly what exactly doctor was saying. And at the other hand Manik’s confused orbs, trying to get an explanation from her.
“What. What did you say....?” manik asked, his amused expressions weren’t helping her.
“I listened doctor was talking to Cabir then he said sorry and I thought....!” nandni said as she stood up, unable to believe at her own self. For a second both just stared at each other, not knowing what to say. Then Manik laughed when he understood her reason of crying uncontrollably.
“So you think, whenever doctor says sorry, it only means patient gone...!” manik said, sitting up and resting his back against headboard of hospital bed. She bit her lip to stop her hiccups. Her face was pale, and hands clutching her collar tightly at her chest. Seeing her tears streaming out effortlessly from the corner of her eyes, Manik got serious.
“Come here....!” manik stretched his hand towards her. She strode over to him slowly until she was standing as close as he could smell her sweet cologne. Holding her wrist he pulled her into his lap. He cupped her face with his hands and looked deep in her eyes.
“You really said those words I was yearning to listen....!” as he asked that question, nandni unable to believe that she just said I love you. This is what he vowed to listen. But it was surprisingly very overwhelming feelings that he was so happy after listening these simple three words. May be for nandni it wasn’t new but for manik it was all over a new experience.
“I love you too, my sweet girl....!” smiling like teenage boy he confessed his love too. Pulling her face closer he pressed his lips to hers. Nandni was shocked for few seconds because it was unexpected, especially when your man is at hospital bed. Then she did what her heart was screaming for. She kissed him back, like it was for last time. Her hands fisting his collar like if she didn’t hold him, he will disappear. When he demanded more she happily allowed him to make it more passionate and deep. Not caring about anything else that existed outside of the kiss, both kept devouring each other.
“Manik, stop....!” when she felt she cant take it more, she pushed him away. Her breaths were fast and uneven when at the other hand manik was completely composed and ready to continue it once again. Throwing her arms around his neck she held him in bone crushing hug.
“I was so scared. I thought....!” she mumbled while burying her face into his shoulder. Her breaths were still unsteady. Her voice was quivering, visibly clear how frightened she was.
“I know, but I'm totally fine....!” he stated, pulling her in his arms as if he had no intentions of letting her go anywhere. After few moments, nandni tried to rise up from his lap, but he pulled her back into hug.
“Just stay here and don't move...!” he asked politely, once again hugging her tightly. Her one hand fisted his soft hairs while other one clasping his shoulder. She felt the heat in her cheeks when she realised, why he requested to not move.
