"New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings"

Sierra Pierce felt numb.

She thought spending Thanksgiving dinner with Liam's parents would make their relationship perfect like it used to be, that she would feel those sparks again whenever he was with her. But after listening to him talk for two hours about himself, Sierra knew there was no going back to what they had.

Liam always seemed to make things about him, never even asking her about what she wanted to say. He made her feel powerless.

Four years trapped in something she thought was love was enough.

From that modern black dining table, there were only fake smiles coming from her. She couldn't act real in front of them or else she would scream in their faces. His dad, appearing exactly the same as her boyfriend with those ocean blue eyes and blond hair, seemed to be the only one entertained by his son's talk.

When Liam began another conversation about how he was doing amazing in college, which he wasn't, Sierra couldn't sit still anymore.

Liam needed to know how much he sucked at football, something no one dared to say to his face because of his millionaire parents, and how much of an asshole of a boyfriend he was.

"Babe, we need to talk," she said quietly, trying to keep her voice low.

Sierra was about to break up with the Jones' son and she didn't need to become their enemy too because she was impolite. The breakup would make her a big enough target.

Everyone at the table ceased talking immediately, their eyes turning to the brunette that dared to say something in their presence. Liam nodded while running one of his hands through his hair. Sierra knew that was a sign of anger towards her. She had just put an end to his talk.

Something she had never done before.

He silently pointed to his bedroom as he stood up and waltzed out, though she lost no time in following him out of the room while her black Louboutin heels clicked against the expensive marble floor. Sierra could feel his mother's gaze burn her back, not doubt disapproving of every step she took.

Mrs. Jones never truly liked her; she wasn't good enough for her precious son or their family name. The brunette didn't have lots of money like them or high-value properties all over New York.

"What do you want to talk about, Sierra?" Liam said as his voice echoed in the room and caused the hairs on Sierra's arms to raise. He seemed increasingly angry as he ran his hand through his hair once again and she knew exactly what his little mannerism meant, she just prayed that their conversation wouldn't escalate drastically.

"Am I not your blossom anymore?" she asked, a hint of sarcasm in her voice. Yes, she was about to break up with him but if he showed just a sign of love or care, or if he had called Sierra by her once lovely nickname, she would have stayed.
