I watch your fingers slide along the keys

my eyes locked onto what they see

your talent seems to shine and glow

as you gently move with the flow

your eyes are closed as you feel every sound

humming a new melody to be found

your fingers move elegantly and full of grace

bouncing from place to place

the sound is but sweet honey to my ear

washing way all that i fear

my nerves calm and I smile as you play

please tell me this feeling will stay

the piano sings to me touching my soul

moving me and making me feel whole

thank you dear pianist for this gift

casting my worries adrift

I sit and listen until the end

I look up and beg please play it again

the pianist sighs and gives a tired smile

maybe again in a little while

but I need you I need your song

without you the demons come along

the pianist stood and spoke as he walked away

you need to learn to fight them someday

as he closed the door the demons creep in

reminding me of every mistake of every sin

I pick myself up and look them in the eye

knowing not to let them see me cry

I walk to the piano and play my first note

the melody protects me filling me with hope

thank you pianist for teaching me how to fight

as I play bringing the brightness of day to this darkest night
