THE STRING 101
Haechan (and mark) can see soulmate rings and strings. The ring will show you the type of relationship (the seers can understand) and the string connects them to their soulmate.
Forever soulmates (meaning the only people they will ever love and will never stop loving) will have the same rings. Forever soulmates are meant to be together forever and there is nothing they can do about it.
Sometimes people don't have strings if they:
1. Are Asexual AND Aromatic (if you are not both of them the string will connect you to the person who will make you happy)
2. Your soulmate died and you are NOT willing to move on, (in some cases you can change your soulmates)
3. You hate/despise your current soulmate in which you have. You will not have a string until you find a soulmate you love or learn to love the one you have
4. You have never passed by, seen, talked to, heard of, dreamed of, and even imagined to meet your soulmate. (It is not that you don't have a soulmate, you've just never interacted or wanted to interact with them, like a kid)
A few people (like chan and mark) are blessed to be able to see these things. They have been sent here as human cupids, their purpose is to be the matchmakers of humanity. Then a few others (that you will learn later) have been cursed to be the opposite of these. They can't see strings, but they can only see strings that the cupids are working on. Meaning if a cupid was trying to get two people together, a HB (short for heartbreaker) can see that couple any time and any place, and can destroy their relationship. The only relationships they cant destroy are forever relationships and cupid relationships (relationships between two cupids or a cupid and a mortal). Both the HB's and the cupids have no control over their powers, they are forced to do their jobs weather they like it or not,
Because Chan and mark can see the rings and strings when they look in the mirror they see themselves with the perfect relationship, but they cant see it with their naked eye. When they look at each other it looks like the other doesn't have a string (everyone has a ring). Their rings look stunning and no human/mortal can ever have a cupid's ring. When a cupid loves a human it will have a string tried to the humans ring, but if they will never fall in love or will love a cupid they cant see their own strings.
If you don't have a string your ring represents how you live, have lived, or will live your life, depending on the situation.
