The ground was wet, not hard. The grey sky turned into lush greenery and the distant sound of water trickled slowly to her ear as she tried to regain her composure.
She laid her wrist across her forehead as an attempt to block the sun from her eyes. Slowly, the girl sat up to assess her surroundings.
"The fuck?!" She whispered in disbelief as she took in her surroundings. Reina was beyond confused as she looked at what should have been a busy Main Street road crossing.
A sharp ring echoed in her brain and her hands shot towards her head as she doubled over in pain. She felt a wet patch on her head and pulled her hands away to see them both stained with dark, crimson blood.
Panic coursed through her as she tried to apply pressure to the bleeding on her head and look around for her school bag.
It was leaning against a nearby tree, she crawled towards it and opened it in a hurry. She cried out in frustration as she couldn't find her first aid kit, mentally scolding herself for taking it out the previous night to refill its contents and then not putting it back into her bag.
Reina leaned against the tree as she began to feel dizzy, probably from the blood loss. A heavy sigh escaped from her lips as she thought of her current situation.
She had been on her way to school, when the ground began to shake and everything began to topple over. Earthquakes weren't common in Britain, but sink holes were. Being the unlucky person Reina was, she somehow ended up right in the center of one.
Before she knew it, she was falling into the ground along with rocks, cars and other people aswell. All she could remember was hitting her head and then passing out from the pain.
How she ended up in the middle of a forest, she had absolutely no clue. She closed her eyes from fatigue, all she wanted was for this to be a dream and for her to wake up in her bed, the hospital or something. But when she pinched herself, she felt pain and decided that believing this place was indeed real, was the best course of action at the moment.
Suddenly, she heard the sound of footsteps and grunting coming towards her direction. Her mood instantly brightened, people! There were actually people here to save her!
She stumbled to her feet and almost fell over when all the blood rushed straight to her head. Reina swung her bag over her shoulder and limped over to a tree in the direction of the voices.
Peering around the tree, she saw two men. Both were dressed in rough looking clothing, had the top of their head shaved and they looked very drunk as they held weirdly shaped bottle in their hands and swayed from side to side.
They looked like the people she had seen the ancient Japanese book at school. But this place couldn't be ancient Japan, could it?
They looked old and perverted but they were all Reina had at the moment to look for help from. So she slowly moved around the tree, stood about 10 metres away from them and asked,
"Ummm, excuse me, Could you help me? I'm lost and I don't know where this place is, could you direct me towards the nearest town?"
The men turned around surprised to see that someone was behind them. They looked pissed of at being disturbed and gave her questioning, almost confused looks.
"汚い雌犬は何を言ったの?"
(What did the dirty-looking bitch say?)
He spoke a different language to the man next to him. His yellow and black teeth showing when he drunkenly slurred the words.
He definitely wasn't speaking English, that was for sure. If her assumption was correct, he was speaking a language from the south-eastern part of Asia. Reina just wasn't sure if it was Japanese, Korean or Chinese.
