Manehattan...was in ruins. What had been a city of lights and wonder, had been reduced into nothing but battered and decrepit ruins; a shadow of its former glory.

The sky was unusually dark for that time of day. The streets were entirely void of life. At least...of pony life. Save for the few who were hiding in the darkest of alleyways they could possibly find. Hoping to hide from the creatures that now dominated their city.

Everything had happened so fast. It all started with the sky suddenly going dark. Almost everypony that were out on the streets had stopped what they were doing and looked up towards the sky as the blue faded into an almost inky black. Mixed in with midnight blue. One pony had actually thought a solar eclipse was occurring. But there was no sign of the sun anywhere. Just nothing but darkness and...stars? It was too early for night to have fallen, but this clearly wasn't the work of the alicorn sisters.

What happened next occurred soon after the daylight was gone. Everypony had gone silent; not a sound to be heard. Even the most rambunctious of ponies didn't utter a single word as their eyes tried to adjust to the sudden darkness. One by one, lights were beginning to switch on in every building that was currently occupied. Streetlights switched on immediately to help light up some places. As soon as the city was lit, everything immediately spiraled downward from there. It only took one look up to see why.

Eyes. Many of them. Pupilless, colorless, eyes. All of which were gazing down at them from the roofs of skyscrapers and buildings. Belonging to large shapes that were crouched down and hunched over like a big cat getting ready to pounce on its prey. They were all over the place. Crouched on the roofs like a flock crows while staring down at them with soulless white eyes that were just blazing with the utmost malice and rage.

They city went to hell from there.

Citizens panicked as the creatures suddenly leaped from the buildings and outstretched their massive batlike wings. They attacked without mercy; destroying anyone or anything in their path. One would've compared the entire scenario like a scene from a monster movie. It was every pony for themselves, now. Carnage now littered the streets. A few blood splats were present here and there. These creatures-dragons to be more precise-still lurked in the area. Whether the sky or building tops. Looking for anyone who dared to escape.

Sunflower had never seen the likes of it before. She's watched monster movies with her little sister, Babs Seed, but never would've thought it could happen in real life. She daringly stuck her head out of a dark alleyway to check if the cost was clear. Times Square was completely deserted; not a soul in sight. The big television screens that overlooked the area were cracked and sparking. These dragons don't seem to like the light so much. She just had to make it to the docks. She could take a boat and get to the mainland from there. She could take along any other survivors while she's at it. Sunflower wouldn't exactly call herself a tough pony. But she can be one when she wants to be in order to protect her sister. If only she knew about the bullying sooner...

It was quite obvious, really. The signs were right there in front of her. Yet she chose to ignore them. She was very upset with her sister when she told her about her first visit to Ponyville. How she treated her cousin and her friends at first. But that predicament was mended rather quickly. The bullying here took a while, though. Since then, she started to act more like a protective mother than anything else. But Babs was away right now. At least she wouldn't have to endure what everyone else in this city is going through. She couldn't help but envy her little sister a bit.
