The sparkly necklace hangs low around her neck. Daring to go down between her breasts. The necklace was given to her by her ex-boyfriend. She only kept it to prove to people she was strong and didn't care and was over him. She even lied to a few people saying she cheated on him too, of course she didn't.
She stares blankly at herself. Wondering how she got to where she is. The lying, it lead her down so many roads that she can't ever come back from.
The clock reads 7:45, five more minutes before school starts. She grabs her keys and books and heads out to her car.
Her family isn't wealthy, but isn't poor either. When she was 16 she had to get a job to pay for a car. After about 5 months of saving she finally got to get a car of her own, a blue 2001 convertible mustang.
She suffered out to her car and swinging the door open. After throwing her books in she drops into the driver's seat. Putting the key into the ignition and hearing the engine roar brightened her mood, she loved to drive, sometimes she would drive when she was bored, or angry, or sad. Just so she could get away. She can't wait for the day when she can move out of her house and drive away to a new city where no one knows her. The feeing of starting over makes Juliet overflow with happiness.
Driving down her street she sees kids walking to school, an old couple walking their dogs, and children. Everyone happy, everyone with people they love. Juliet hasn't had someone she loved in a long time. As she drives she tries to think about why she doesn't love anyone, but it's because she can't trust anyone, her trust in people has been beaten down so far she won't be able to find it again.
"Goooooooodddd morning everybody! Good to you know haven't switched the station yet," The man on the radio says, " But don't worry I'll get you some cool tunes here in just a second. This is 'Give Me Love' by Ed Sheeran! Hope you like it." The song starts to play. Juliet loves music, she likes everything but rap. As the words flow through her car speakers she hums along.
She pulls into the school parking lot at 7:55, she was always late to school. Her teachers expected her to be now. She never tells her friends that she comes late it they will suspect something. She used to be a very punctual person.
Walking into class she finds her seat and half listens to her teachers lecture over World War II. She crosses her arms on her desk and lays her head down, slowly sipping away from it all.
She awakes when the bell rings. "Juliet can I speak to you?" Her teacher called to her while she gathers her things.
"Yeah sure, what's up?" She says.
"Are you okay? You've been falling asleep in my class a lot lately." Her teacher Mr. Korvez asks.
"Yeah I'm fine." Lie. "I'm just tired. It's a teenager thing, probably a growth spurt" she gave him a fake smile to make it seem real. He nods letting her go on her way.
