I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion but I think Steve should've given his shield to Bucky and not Sam. I do think Sam is a good candidate and Bucky and Sam do share a similar set of skills but Bucky and Steve have gone back a hundred years. They've fought more and bigger battles together. Bucky was there before even Peggy and Howard came into the picture. Maybe the writers/directors thought Bucky had enough of the fighting like Steve but still.
