The Demon Within.

The Strings that Bind Us.

I opened the door to my house with Jack and Lily behind me. I thought that the both of them should get treated before heading home, otherwise their parents would freak out.

"Ah! Andrew! Is that you?" I heard Basil say that from the kitchen and heard footsteps of him coming out. "Why are you so late? Do you know what time it is?! Where have yo...!" He paused as he came out of the kitchen and saw the state the three of us were in. "What the!? What happened to you?! Why are you and Jack bleeding?!"

"Look, Its a long story," I started "But first Jack and I need to get treated and Lily needs some rest."

Basil stared hard at the three if us. But, he was less surprised than I thought he would be. He kept a calm face and said "Ok. Lets get you two treated in my room. We'll let Lily rest a while in your room." He took us upstairs and asked Lily to get some rest in my room and then headed to his with me and Jack following behind. He opened the door, revealing a neat and tidy room painted with Blue Walls and decorated with White Floor Tiles. A small bed lay in the middle and there were 2 cupboards on the left and right side of the room facing each. There was also wierd glyphs painted on the wall with Red. He pulled out a chair and asked us to sit while he walked towards the cupboard and took a medical kit.

"So," He spoke, calmly and seriously. "Mind telling me what happened now?"

So, I did. I told him everything from the Light to the Gargoyles which attacked us. I also told him about the wierd dream I had and .. also about my Transformation.

He just sat there quietly tending to my wounds, as I explained everything. Not even gasping in shock. Even Jack sat there, with his head held down. It was completely quiet. And, Honestly, it felt as if I was a deranged person blabbing on about fantasies. As I finished I could feel the atmosphere around me was all ... wierd.

"So, thats it? Thats what happened?" Was the only thing he said.

"Thats it?! Thats it?!!" I said, sort of in an outrage. "What, the whole story not wierd enough for you? You want me to bend the truth a little and add in Fairies or something?!"

"No, no. I believe you its just that.." He started saying. "You know ... hmm .. it's kinda hard to say this but, I think its time you knew something."

I stood there wondering just what he wanted to tell me. Not knowing that after this, my life would change forever.

"You see Andrew, Mom, as you know, is just a normal human. What you don't know is that Dad is not Human. He is a Demon." Basil started now treating Jacks wound. "What?! Seriously?! Dad? A demon?!" I exclaimed in shock. "Yeah. He was a Dragon type demon that reigned supreme over the demon world "Raxia". He was a powerful demon and could skillfully control [Water]."

"Umm.. by 'reigned supreme', do you mean he was a Demon Lord or something?" Jack finally decided to speak and asked. "So, is he evil?" "No, he didn't lead them as a Demon Lord. Rather what I meant is that he was Powerful. Also, he wasn't the evil type demon. He was an Auroch." Basil answered. "Auroch? I heard the Gargoyles say that. What does it mean?" I asked out of curiosity. "An Auroch is a Demon that once as a Human accepted death. We call those who didn't accept death, Devils." Basil answered "Now stop intterupting me."

"Now, Demons can travel to the human world, 'Verse' and on one such occasion, Dad met Mom and got engaged. They gave birth to me a few Months later and got pregnant to you, two years later. This enraged the Devils as they thought that Mom would give birth to a Human with powers as that of Dad. So they set out to Destroy Mom and Dad. However Dad stopped them at the risk of his life. He placed a Barrier on us and Sealed off the Raxia-Verse rift, so that Demons can't get to the Human World and then went to the Demon world to stop the Devil King. The battle took 5 days but in the end, dad was defeated."

I had listened carefully and was constantly thinking that, 'This can't be' or 'It's a Lie'. But it was the truth and I knew it. And there was also one thing on my mind that Basil didn't answer. So, I gathered my Courage and ssked, "What happened to Mom?"

Basil paused for a while and answered, "I don't really know. While Dad was in Raxia, some devils found their way to Verse and to us. Mom led them away from us and used her magic to teleport the devils and herself to Raxia. I don't know wether or not she is alive."

"Wait, she used magic? I thought she was a normal human." Jack asked.

"Yeah. And I thought dad placed a spell on us and sealed of the rift?" I followed.

"First of all. Normal Humans can also learn Magic, depending on what attribute they are and wether they are Support type, White or Offense type, Black. And Secondly the Barriers Dad placed take some time to complete. A solid 5 days. And they wear off after 16 years. You turned 17 last week."

There was a moment of silence. Then Jack asked, "So, even I could learn Magic?"

"Yh. You can. Why the sudden interest?" Basil replied.

"I want to learn Magic!" Jack answered with determination in his eyes. "What? Why?!" I said in surprise.

"Cause next time we get attacked, I don't want to remain helpless and watch my Best Friend get torn to shreds."

Then, the door burst open revealing Lily with a determined and competetive face. "If a useless idiot like you is learning Magic, then so am I. Si! I want you to teach me Magic as well! I don't want to see my Childhood Friend get hurt either!"

"Sure. I'll ask some friends to come help train you tomorrow." Basil said with a smile.

I was left speechless. I was sure that they wouldn't have wanted to be my friends anymore. But I was wrong. And as I looked into faces of my friends looking at me happily, I couldn't help but get teary as they gently patted me and comforted me.

I thought, that I had the most wonderful Friends ever.

Although, little did I know of the shadows that loomed over Raxia and Verse.
