Chapter 2.

It's been over a week since the Red Hair pirates left Foosha village, I was going into town to meet with Luffy. I wonder what's so great being a pirate? You are just a fugitive on the run, you encounter death at any time. I mean having a crew, sounds nice I guess. I'm just overthinking this, not every pirate gets taken in by the marines. I start walking past Miss. Makino's bar and I eye the bounty stuck up on the notice board. It's Higuma's. Such a jerk, I can't believe that a person could be that self-absorbed.

I spot Luffy in the midst of everyone, he was talking to the fish seller.

"Don't become a pirate Luffy! It'll ruin our villages reputation," advises one of the stall members. Luffy turns around and sticks in fingers in his ears. So persistent you are Luffy...

"Y/N!" yells the one and only Luffy. He runs to me smiling widely, and actually widely. He was pinching both sides of his mouth and pulling them.

"Oh, morning Luffy-kun," I reply. "You are actually made of rubber now!"

"Yeah, I am!"

"Aren't you disappointed you can't swim?" I ask.

Mr Shanks did say once you ate a Devil Fruit you wouldn't be able to swim. At all and that would be a huge handicap if you were a pirate.

"Nope! I can still be a pirate Y/N! No one is gonna stop me, I'm going to get the best crew in the sea then become the Pirate King!" he says boldly.

"P-pirate king? Why?" I ask, being a normal pirate was a hassle, what would the chaos be like if you were the King of pirates? Luffy puts his hands on his head and rests them there.

"Well, you get the most freedom and all the treasure you want, duh!"

Freedom, huh, I thought being a normal kid was the best freedom you could get. I mean I am happy that Miss. Makino took me in, if it wasn't for her I wouldn't be living how I would right now. I feel a hand mould into mine, I look up. Luffy offers me a smile.

"Let's go get something to eat!" He starts marching for the Party's Bar.

"Why, hello Y/N, Luffy," She eyes our linked hands. I silently look away, blushing red.
We took a seat and Miss. Makino handed us a plate of food and a glass of juice.

"The pirates have been at sea for a long time," says Luffy, out of the blue. I stretch, as Miss. Makino cleans a sake mug.

"Do you miss Mr Shanks, Luffy?" I ask, resting my hand on my chin. Luffy thought,

"After the bandits humiliated them, uh, no," He sighs biting on the edge of his glass. "I really misjudged them, I thought they were tough and strong. Guess I was wrong..."

I sneeze, "Well, they were avoiding a fight Luffy," I reply, wiping my nose.

Miss. Makino nods. "Are you sure Luffy? It takes a lot more courage to not to fight," She beams, trying to talk sense into Luffy's head. Luffy keeps pouting, his shoulders lower as he fiddles with his glass.

"You don't get it Y/N, Makino, a real man has to stand up for himself no matter what," Well, if Mr Shanks wasn't as understanding as he was I wonder what would've happened...

"Is that so, well, I don't understand," smiles Miss. Makino kindly. Luffy grumbles back with a 'that's right,'
The door swings open to reveal Higuma walking in with his thugs flanking him both sides.

"Well, look at that. Those pirates aren't here today and we're back," he smirks. He's going to take advantage of this chance. Higuma and his thugs fill up the tables in no time and made themselves comfy. "What are you look at?" He says to me.

I simply look the other way, his stare bore through my back.

"Now, forget the stuck up girl. Bring us sake!" he demands, his thugs start slamming on the tables. But then that's when Luffy started to get off his chair and faced them.

I hopped off and put my hand over Luffy's mouth before he started talking. Luffy takes my hand off his mouth.

"YOU WERE ALL JERKS! YOU SHOULD'VE DONE THAT TO SHANKS AND HIS CREW! HE'S THE BEST PIRATE WHAT WERE YOU THINKING YOU BASTARDS!?" shouted Luffy, I reach my hand out to Luffy.

"Luffy, stop," whispers Miss. Makino putting down the glass she was cleaning.

"L-Luffy-kun... D-don't," I say. I start shaking, Higuma got out of his chair and started waltzing towards Luffy. I walk in front of Luffy and brace for what was coming.

"Get out of my way," He pushes pasts me and holds up Luffy by the collar. "Cocky little bastard aren't you?" he sneers.

"Put him down!" I yell, "Put Luffy-kun down, he didn't mean it!" I grabbed onto Higuma's sleeve yanking half of his body down."What's it to you, wretch?" he spat.

"Y/N, stay out of this," grumbles Luffy from Higuma's fists. Higuma glanced at both of us.

"You want to fight little boy?" Luffy starts kicking Higuma on his stomach.

"H-Higuma, leave the children alone I'll serve you sake, a-as much as you want," cries Miss. Makino. Higuma and his thugs start laughing hysterically.

"Oh no, the boys messed me with, he's going to get what he deserves," He takes a hold of my collar and walks me and Luffy out.

"P-PUT ME DOWN!" I screech, clawing his gripped hand.

His thugs join us as he drops me and Luffy on the ground, in the centre of Foosha village. Where everyone could see, everyone got out of their houses and even the chief came out. I look over to Luffy he was about to lunge at Higuma, but I hold him back.

"APOLOGISE RIGHT NOW! YOU BASTARD!" he gets out of my grip and aims a punch at the Bandit. He arm lengthens but he misses Higuma, Higuma inspects Luffy.

"Oh, we have a rubber man, who would've thought such a thing could exist," he cackles.

"PUT HIM DOWN!" I say I was at the edge of breaking.

"Tch," he did as I asked, but he essentially threw Luffy to the ground. I run to Luffy and hold out my hand. He doesn't accept it, he gets up grabbing a stick.

"Stay away Y/N, you'll get hurt," he says, his breathing is ragged.

"Luffy-kun..." I trail, I watch him advance forwards.

"If I sell him to a circus, I should get a lot of money," thought Higuma out loud, he saw Luffy coming at him. "What a strong brat,"

 He counters by lifting his leg and kicking Luffy down. He rests his foot on Luffy's head, I bunch up my fists and start walking forwards but the Chief pulled me back. I was in tears, I had enough. There was so much violence.

"I'll deal with this Y/N, stay with Makino," He walks off and Miss. Makino envelopes me into a hug.

"Now we were having a good time drinking and talking, what pissed you off brat?" Higuma doesn't lift his leg off.

"YES, YOU DID! NOW APOLOGISE! MOVE YOUR DAMN FOOT!" cries Luffy, more tears start falling and I can't help it. The Chief gets on his knees and bows.

"Let the child go! I don't know Luffy did and I don't want to argue with you. But I'm willing to pay! Just let the child go," declares the Chief. He was fully bowing at Higuma.

"But it's too late, he already me mad," He nocks his head, grinning.

"LET LUFFY-KUN GO!!" I cry I wish I could do something...

"When a weakling like him pisses me off, it just makes me mad. SO MAD," he applies pressure to Luffy's head.

"IT'S YOUR FAULT YOU ASSED BABOON!" retorts Luffy from under his sandal. Luffy stop arguing... You're hurting yourself... and me...

Higuma takes his sword out. "I'm not going to sell you, I'll kill you instead!" He lowers his sword down.

"NO! YOU BIG JERK STOP IT, LEAVE LUFFY-KUN ALONE!" He wouldn't Luffy, wouldn't he?

"I wondered why no one greeted us at the port, so this is why," says a masculine voice...
