A young man stood on his back porch, a cigarette in between his plump lips as he looked out onto the waves that crashed to the sandy shore. He leaned against the rail of the porch that separated him from the ten-foot drop below as he pulled out a lighter from the back pocket of his jeans. The night was cool and clear, not a single cloud blocked the luminous moon as its pale white light shone down to the equally fair boy. He was beautiful, but he knew this. It was as if he was carved from stone. Even his raven locks seemed to have a crafted edge that looked as though an aged sculpture spent hours manipulating marble to achieve a false softness that craved one's touch. With a click the lighter spurt a small flame of yellow and red shining a different, warmer light onto him. As he breathed the fire in through the small stick of tobacco, the red glare at the end of cigarette seemed to pair perfectly with the glow of his eyes as he continued to stare over the crashing waves below him. Grey smoke left his mouth and nose as he pulled the cigarette away. He twirled it between his fingers before he took another long drag.

From behind him, soft footsteps were heard and then a pair of arms wrapped around his bare torso. A girl, shorter than him and somehow more striking. Her curly brunette hair brushed against him as she rested her head on his mid-back. He moved his hands atop hers, making the quiet moment even more intimate. The two of them were marble statues embraced by the white light of the moon.

"Bri?" the girl finally spoke in a soft voice.

"Oui, Madame?" he responded to her. There was a hesitant pause from the girl, but out of respect, Brice didn't speak.

"...I want to start a family."
