1991

The cold, glass chamber opened, releasing the blonde soldier from his frozen state. With his legs weak and his mind barely awake, the guards dragged to into the chair.

His screams from the unbearable pain filled the air, only ceasing when the mechanism holding him hostage stopped. His panting and Colonel Karpov's voice now echoed around the room. Karpov circled around the soldier as he mustered those words, those horrible words.

"Longing"

"Rusted"

"Sixty seven"

"Daybreak"

"Furnace"

"Eight"

"Benign"

"Homecoming"

"One"

"Freight car"

Karpov was now in front of him, staring at him, waiting for him to be in complete control. After gaining full control, he stared back. Karpov closed the scarlet book he held and set on the table beside him.

"Good morning, Soldier."

The Soldier was silent for a second, as if registering the words.

"Ready to comply."

Karpov picked up a file off the table and spoke, "I have a mission for you." "Sanction and extract." Karpov explained, "No witnesses."

A car was traveling down a dimly lit backroad at night, unaware the Soldier was stalking it from the wood. After it passed, he started his motorcycle, in pursuit. He rode over to it's right and punched it, crashing it into a light post. He slowed and turned his vehicle towards the crash sight.

Stopping at the trunk, he got off and marched over to it. He opened it and scanned through the contents. The Soldier opened a briefcase to reveal what he needed. Five pouches of the serum Hydra required for it's plan.

"Well done Soldier." Karpov said, staring at the briefcase and it's content.

Lagos, Present Day

Hungary sat at a cafe table stirring her coffee. She set the spoon down and lifted it to meet her face to sip it. "All right, what do you see?" America spoke from the radio in her ear. Hungary turned back and put her coffee down, "Standard beat cops." "Small Station" She continued, gazing back at the two officers talking, "Quiet street. It's a good target."

"There's an ATM on the south corner, which means?" America asked. "Cameras." She answered.

"Both cross streets are one-way."

 "So, compromised escape routes."

"Means our guy doesn't care about being seen. He isn't afraid to make a mess on the way out."

"You see that Range Rover halfway up the block?" He continued.

"Yeah, the red one? It's cute."

"It's also bulletproof, which means private security..." Belarus entered their conversation, "which means more headaches for somebody. Probably us." "You guys know I can move things with my mind, right?" Hungary asked, sarcastically. "Looking over you shoulder needs to become second nature." Belarus said.

"Anybody ever tell you you're a little paranoid?" Australia also joined the conversation. He stood at the top of a building, looking down at the city. "Not to my face. Why? Did you hear something?" Belarus questioned, sarcasm hidden behind her voice.
