like any other day, she was walking home
from school.
like an average girl.
she wore a sweater that covered
her scars, and
jeans that concealed her skin.
peeking out from her sleeve and
pressing against her white skin
was the tip of a blade.
she smiled sickeningly as she held up her hand,
examining the fine dagger.
"finally," she whispered,
her house coming into view.
like an average girl, she entered her house.
"mom, dad, I'm home!"
she yelled, strangely cheerful.

"kadence, hurry up.
we need to get ready for your brother's
award ceremony." her mom said,
not paying attention to her.
kadence smiled.
"the ceremony?"
she asked, stepping towards her mother.
"don't tell me you forgot!"
her mother scolded.
it was all about kadence's brother.

kadence stepped into her mother's room where her
mother was picking out clothes.
"hurry up, change." her mother said.
kadence stepped behind her.
"kadence?"
kadence's hand shot out, covering her mother's mouth as
she dragged her mother into the bathroom.
she pushed her knife into her mother's stomach and
she stabbed over,
and over again,
her mother not being able to scream.
she laughed, pushing her mother's still
writhing body into the bathtub, before
cutting across her throat.

warm blood coated her hands as she made her way to her father's room.
he was asleep, taking a nap
before the ceremony.

wrong decision, dad.

kadence stabbed him in the forehead, smiling
in ecstasy as she did so.
she stabbed him in the chest repeatedly, blood flowing down.
his eyes were open, mouth contorted in a
silent scream but it was too late.

"brother, you're next."

she cleaned herself and stepped out of the house, ready to hunt her brother down.

then, everything went black.
