It had been an entire summer since anyone had seen or heard from Lola Carter. Despite the fact that her name had been cleared, Lola didn't return home to Riverdale like her friends had assumed she would and no one knew why.
Rumours about her spread quickly; some said she got caught up in a drug trade while others said she was pregnant. Her friends knew none of this was true but they didn't know what the truth was. Not even Jughead Jones, her best friend, had received so much as a phone call from the girl.
That is why, one hot day near the end of summer as Good Vibrations drifted around Cheryl Blossom's pool party, no one had expected so see a familiar blonde-haired girl strut through the crowd. Lola Carter was back.
A smirk was planted on her face as she ignored the whispers and glances from the people around her. After taking a much needed break from the drama of Riverdale, Lola wasn't going to take any crap from anyone.
Granted, she was nervous about seeing everyone. How would they react? Would they be mad she hadn't contacted them or happy she was back? Soon enough, she would find out. There were two people in particular she was looking for: Jughead Jones and Sweet Pea. She knew they would be at this party simply because everyone was, she just had to find them.
Lola thought it would be a hard task to complete but she was quickly proven wrong. Sitting on the side of the pool with their legs in the water was a very familiar tall Serpent: Sweet Pea. However, Lola's face fell as she noticed him lean over in an attempt to kiss Josie McCoy.
Her heart immediately shattered into a million pieces. She hadn't exactly expected him to wait for her all this time - more hoped he would - but the fact that it was Josie rather than anyone else made her angry. She and Josie had become close friends before she left for San Junipero so she felt like she was being stabbed in the back.
