Intentions

Do intentions matter?
How important is a person's intention compared to the results of their actions?
Is it more important, just as important, or less important. Why?

If a person were to do something with bad intentions but the results were good. Would you reward him/her?

Here's a hypothetical scenario:
A scientist set out to discover a virus of some sort that can cause mass genocide. However, he accidentally discovers the cure to mortality. (Figures our how to make people immortal). You have the power to reward the guy by giving him a Nobel prize. Would you do it?

(Imagine if you saw his scientific journal and found out that he wanted to kill people all along)

What did you choose to do? Or did you come up with an alternative way to deal with things? Why?

The scary thing about this is that in the real world we can never know anyone's true intentions. Even you yourself may not understand why you do certain things.
There have been quite a number if cases where people were punished for something they didn't do. Think of all those times where we rewarded those who were 'undeserving'

P.s the picture above is The Crones from Witcher 3. Of you play/watched the gameplay you would know why I put them there
