Chapter 2: Flashbacks

“Eiji! Give me back my book!” Kichiro shouted as he gets up from laying down on the grass.

Kichiro could believe his little brother stole his book when he was asleep.

“You need to train more rather than reading your perverted books.” Eiji snorted as he throws the book across the training grounds and walks away to lay under a tree.

Kichiro runs towards the book and manages to catch it before it hits the ground. He starts hugging it like it was his baby. Kichiro couldn’t believe Eiji would do that to his book. Eiji rolled his eyes, knowing that his brother will never learn when to train and when to relax. Eiji turns his gaze towards Hanako.

She was staring at the view of the village with her back facing him. She did that a lot when she could. Eiji wanted to get into her head and see what she was thinking about. He still remembers when he met her.

“What’s your name?”

“E..Eiji and this is my older brother Kichiro,” Eiji said carrying his older brother who was unconscious in his arms.

The man had black hair and onyx eyes that didn’t hold any emotion and was wearing a black cloak. He squats and examines the unconscious boy. Eiji watches the man very closely. He wondered if he should trust the man, but he was to worries to know if Kichiro was ok.

“Please help me and my brother. Please.” Eiji said begging the mysterious man in front of him.

“Come with me.” The man said as he takes Kichiro into his arms and started walking towards a house.

Eiji follows behind closely. The man opens the door and lays Kichiro on to a plain white mattress. Eiji looks around and notices there are stacks of books all over the floor. He walks towards the pile of books. He was about to pick up a book, but he notices a beautiful girl sleeping in the middle of the pile.

She was asleep. She had lovely white hair that lay everywhere on the cold floor, but it didn’t look messy at all like it was a beautiful painting. She was wearing a white dress that reached all the way to her ankles and compliment her pale skin. Her chest slowly went up and down.

Eiji didn’t realize that the man came over to where he was standing. The man takes off his cloak. He puts the cloak on the sleeping girl. Was she his daughter?

“Your brother will be fine. I’m impressed that a boy like yourself can care so much for you older brother.” He said it in a way like there was a deeper meaning to it.

“His is the only family I have now. Even though I don’t like him most of the time, he is still my brother.” Eiji said look into the man’s onyx eyes.

The man didn’t reply back to Eiji after that. He stared at the girl. Most people probably couldn’t see the genuine love deep within his emotionless eyes, but Eiji could. This man loved his girl a lot but not a lover’s love but a family’s love.

“Is she your daughter?” Eiji asked looking back at the sleeping form on the ground.

“No, I’m not. I’m her guardian, but I would have liked it if she was related to me like that or as my little sister.” He said picking up some books and putting them away on the short shelf.

The girl started to move and sits up. Her hair falls down from her shoulders, showing their full length. Eiji watched every move she made as she rubs her eyes. Eiji’s heart stops when her eyes look directly at him. There was no shine in them as if she wasn’t living but when she looked at the man behind Eiji her eyes seemed to shine.
