donghyuck fished around in his pocket for the notepad renjun had given him, insisting he use it to study for their upcoming exams

kneeling down at the bedside he allowed the words to flow through the pen onto the paper. after he was done he made his way back to taeil's room

taeil was hunched over holding his head in his hands, donghyuck knocked lightly on the doorframe causing the male to look up

he gave a weak smile and stood to greet donghyuck

donghyuck started to apologise but taeil cut him off "it's ok. i understand your brother's actions, you two are allowed to do as you please after all" 

donghyuck stepped forward, hugging taeil tightly surprising the shorter male but taeil eventually hugged back

"thank you for everything you did for us" donghyuck whispered into his shoulder, taeil simply smiled and patted his back reassuringly 

"think nothing of it, besides marks atrocious stubborn behaviour we all loved having you here and you're always welcome back" 

donghyuck stiffened slightly at the mention of mark but nodded

"i'll be going then" he mumbled, giving the elder one last hug before trudging down the familiar staircase

it seemed that everyone had gathered to bid farewell to the boy as lucas' built frame crushed donghyuck in a tight hug

"lucas for goodness sake you're going to break him" jungwoo scolded

the tall male pulled back with a sad expression "i'll miss you little sun" 

donghyuck smiled at the nickname that had grown on him during his stay. he went through each member, bidding farewell before making his way over to kun

"ahem" an awkward cough brought their attention to taeil who was standing at the bottom of the stairs, the members got the message and left from the space

kun fidgeted with his hand nervously as taeil came closer. "fuck it" he whispered and leapt forward to engulf taeil who gladly responded

they broke apart after some time and taeil gave a sad grin "one day we'll be one again my love" taeil said, nothing but admiration and love projecting through his voice

"one day" kun nodded, before turning around and walking out with donghyuck. wincing at the sniffling sounds he heard as he closed the front door behind him

they lugged the heavy bag into the boot and made their way into the car. not knowing what lay ahead, only knowing that they would go through it together

"markie" ten's gentle voice spoke as he looked at the boy worryingly

mark rolled over in his bed to look at ten, not bothering to conceal his drained bloodshot eyes and glistening cheeks

"time for dinner," ten said, not wanting to pry into the boy's despair. the members usually let jeno handle mark during his moods but this was much more serious, and the said boy was nowhere to be found

jeno had never returned from school, only sending a brief message saying he was busy with renjun and jaemin

mark nodded, heaving himself up from his bed and following ten. ignoring the pitiful glances he received from his concerned members. taeil wasn't seated along with the rest of the group

mark could only imagine what the leader must have felt. the couple had spent 3 strong years with each other 

mark ate but tasted nothing, emptily swallowing the food

maybe he was being dramatic

they had only spent a short time together unlike kun and taeil

maybe he was being selfish

marks solemn thoughts were interrupted when jeno's frantic yelling rang through the house

red-faced and puffing he ran into sight, startling everyone 

"THEY'RE BACK" he yelled 

he bent down to catch his breath

"they're back and th-they took them" he choked out, his voice cracking

doyoung ran to the boys side immediately, holding the shaking boy

"took who?" he urged, worried for jeno and why he was so worked up

"jaemin, r-renjun and"

he turned to face mark

"a-and donghyuck and kun"

the sound of a plate shattering caused mark to flinch as an equally shocked taeil stood open-mouthed

he stormed over to jeno and grabbed his shoulders. staring hard into the bys scared eyes "who?" he demanded

"the mob"
