James slowly walked out of the classroom, trying to ignore the snickering around him.

"'Ey, Madison! You thinkin' about your boyfriend?" James Reynolds shouted at him.

James turned around, confused.

"Don't look at me like that!"

James glanced around the room.

"I, um-"

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Say what you want."

James didn't want to answer. He knew he would get made fun of even more.

 He heard laughing from behind him, making him walk faster and look down even lower to the point he could hardly see anymore.

Suddenly, he fell to the ground.

"Oh, James! I'm so sorry!"

It was Peggy.

James just put his hand up to say its fine and stood back up to keep walking.

"Why are they laughing at you anyway?"

James stayed silent and kept walking, trying to ignore everything around him. Peggy frowned and led him to a seat. As he put his hood up and took out his phone, James texted Thomas for the first time in five years.

He'd been to scared to ever text him since Thomas left all of a sudden and pretty much never came back or texted him at a-

[ oh hey! i never thought we'd text again lol ]

James eyes widened and he put his hand slightly over his mouth. He looked at Peggy and practically threw his phone at her. She smiled back at him.

[ omg- youre actually texting me back??????? ]

[ i mean, ofc i would i miss u so much jem 😢😢😢 ]

James smiled slightly as he read the word 'Jem'.

[ i told all my friends abt u and how i cant wait to meet one day again!! ]

[ they all made fun of me and told me to get over u tho so ]

[ except for one they want to meet u too ]

James rested his head on his hand as he read the texts. He felt..appreciated. Like when your best friend sends you a bunch of wholesome memes saying how much they love you. James smiled and blushed even though he had really no way of replying.

"What is he sending you to make you smile like that? I've never seen you like that before." Peggy looked over James' shoulder.
