***five minutes later***
Eve, Scarla, and Luna had joined Haven and the boys at their table. After much encouragement from the other girls, Eve finally gave in. However, she was starting to regret it.

Eve was severely introverted. The only people she talked to were her sister, mother, and best friends. She preferred staying in her room and listening to "emo" music over leaving the house and hanging out with friends. Haven had always told her to get out more and build social skills, but Eve never had enough courage to.

Now, as they all sat at the table, Eve was trying really hard not to get up and go cry in the bathroom. All she wanted was for the food to get there so that they would be one step closer to leaving.

Haven, Luna, and Scarla sat on one side of the booth while Logan, Cameron, and Eve sat on the other. Therefore, Haven was across from Logan and Scarla was across from Eve, which of course meant that Eve was stuck sitting next to Cameron.

"So," Cameron started, "What do you think about our siblings hanging out so much?"

Eve was resisting the urge to say something really rude but unfortunately it came out anyway due to her anxious state. Everyone else at the table was focused on their own conversation until they heard: "I think that your brother is a stuck-up prick who only cares about himself and my sister is way out of his league."

The whole table was silent for a moment as their ears deciphered the words that came out of Eve's mouth.

It was quiet, however, until Logan started laughing out of nowhere. He lightly slapped Eve on the back as he looked around at the rest of the group.

"Now come on, I'm not that bad am I?" He questioned.

It was obvious that no one wanted to answer him.

Luna and Scarla looked down as if they didn't hear him while Cameron looked around nervously. Eve looked over at her sister, noticed she was about to cry, and instantly regretted saying anything out loud.

Right then, the server came to the table with the two large, steaming pizzas and placed them on the metal pizza stands in the center of the table.

"Perfect timing," Logan said with a smile, although Eve couldn't figure out if he was being sarcastic or not. After that, Scarla let out a few nervous chuckles and grabbed two slices of hot pizza. Luna, also being aware of Haven's state, didn't laugh or anything. She just asked Scarla to move, stood up, grabbed Haven, and dragged her to the bathroom. Eve, rolling her eyes, got up to follow them.  Once the bathroom door closed, the girls started to talk.

One tear rolled down Haven's flushed cheek.

"What the fuck was that back there, Eve? I actually care about Logan, you know."

Eve felt guilty and watched as Luna hugged Haven to help her feel better.

She shrugged.

"I don't know. I'm so sorry; I don't know what came over me," Eve started, "but you two know how much I hate guys and that man is a prime example of why."

"Okay but you didn't have to express it like that," Luna said softly.

"Yeah, I know," Eve admitted, "I'm sorry Haven. I know how much Logan means to you and I should accept him just because of that. I'll try harder from now on."

Haven nodded. Luna moved out of the way so that Eve could hug her sister. Even though Eve usually hated hugs, she felt it was appropriate for this situation.

"I'll forgive you once you apologize to both of the brothers," Haven tried to say sternly but the pouty face she was making didn't really assist with that.

"Okay. I can do that." Eve agreed.
Luna opened the door after Haven wiped her tears, and the three headed out.

As soon as they sat back down at the table, Eve addressed the twins.

"Logan, Cameron, I'm sorry. That was rude and uncalled for and I shouldn't have said it," and for good measure she added, "and Logan, you're actually a pretty decent guy to my sister, not a prick like I said."

"Hey," Logan started, "no hard feelings. I get it all the time."

"It's all good," Cameron added and said with a small smile "although my brother is a prick."

The whole table laughed, and Scarla choked since she was still eating her pizza when it happened.

Haven smiled as she ate her pizza in small bites.

******

"See? It wasn't that bad," Scarla assured Eve.

Everyone had left the pizza place and the four girls were on the way back to their shared neighborhood.

"Yeah you're right," Eve agreed, "I actually kind of had fun."

The girls laughed.

"Who would have imagined?" Scarla asked rhetorically. "Stone-cold, soulless, heartless Eve having fun?"

The others chuckled and agreed as they drove through the night, the windows open and one of their favorite songs "Six Feet Under" by Billie Eilish playing on the radio.

None of the girls had a care in the world, but they shouldn't have let their guard down even for a second.
