“Daddy’s Arms”
Believe me, being a daddy’s child would be the best feeling in the world.
“Diane, come on, I’m going to visit your mother. I’m gonna be late,” he said.
“Coming.” I packed my things and hopped in the car.
The ambiance is awkward. There’s complete silence. Suddenly, the car stopped.
“Get off, now,” he commanded and I nodded. I leave the car without looking at him, and he left as fast as he can.
I don’t want this. I never wished to let that happen. I don’t want this.
I went to my boyfriend’s house. He greeted me and I just stared at him blankly as my response.
“Your dad again?” I didn’t respond. “Oh come on, Yan, get used to it. He’ll never change for sure.”
“But I’m still hoping,” I said hopelessly.
“You’re just letting him to hurt you over and over again.”
“I don’t care. I know that he loves me.”
“He’s not. It’s obvious. If he does, then why is he like that?”
“Because it’s my fault.”
“What did you do for him to treat you like that? As if you’re not his daughter? “
“It’s not that easy to explain, Matt.”
“Okay, I’m sorry. Just forget about him for a while, alright? I’m here. I’m going to be your father,” he smiled at me.
“Yeah. At least I still have you, right?” I smiled back at him.
“Yup. You have me,” he hugged me and tapped my head. This guy really knows how to lift me up. I’m really lucky to have him.
Matt and I just played all day long. What my Dad knows is that I’m going to attend my class today. But Matt is sick. So I decided not to go to school. Also, he doesn’t know that I have a boyfriend. How would he know? He doesn’t even bother to ask. He’s not interested in what’s happening in my life. We are complete strangers to each other, living under the same roof. I don’t even know him anymore. And he knows nothing about me.
I went back home at around 12 at night. I know it’s wrong for a girl to go home this late. But I don’t want to go back here. Every time I see this house, all I feel is pain. Every time I enter this house, I’m always thirsty, thirsty for love. My life is full of shit. I feel so unloved.
“Why did you come home late, young lady?” I was surprised. He’s still awake, eh?
“It’s none of your business.”
“It’s my business. You’re my daughter!” Daughter, eh?
“Oh really? Since when? I can’t feel it,” I bet he’s now cursing me.
“Oh, you!” He stretched his arm as if he’ll slap me.
“Why don’t you continue?” I challenged him but he just stood there. “Making you freeze like that is my greatest accomplishment in my life. Ha! You’re nothing,” I walked out.
