Spirits (completed)

Part 16

Jack woke up, He was hearing Marissa and Nate voices. They were yelling and grunting. He quickly put his jacket on and came out of the tent. He saw them both surrounded by wolves. They were holding their spirit stone machetes and it looked like they were attacked couple of times. He quickly came in and started looking for his machete. He kicked Arsalan and said

"Wake up, we are under attack"

Arsalan was deep asleep. He did it again and Arsalan twitched. Jack found the machete and heard Nate's pain full grunt. Jack grabbed Arsalan's shoulders and shook him pretty hard. Arsalan woke up.

"We are under attack, come on"

Jack ran out. Arsalan jumped up, took his machete out of the bag and followed him. They both came out and looked around. Marissa and Nate were standing in front of the tent and wolves were all around. Wolves were around twenty. A wolf jumped towards Jack and Jack swung his machete. It hit the wolf on the neck and it faded. Wolves started to move around aggressively. Jack said

"May be it was my mistake to kill that good boy"

Arsalan yelled

"Get in back to back position, We should not fight separately"

All four got in to back to back position. Wolves started running towards them. Arsalan threw fireballs at them. As soon as the first ball hit a wolf. They all stopped. Wolves started to walk towards the side which Arsalan was facing. Jack said

"What is happening?"

Nate said

"I think they want Arsalan only"

All wolves gathered up in front of Arsalan. They were growling. Arsalan threw couple of more fireballs. Wolves ran towards him. Jack yelled

"Protect him"

All three left their sides because there were no wolves in front of them. They moved in front of Arsalan and held their machetes in front. Wolves attacked but completely ignored them. Arsalan was holding machete with his right hand and throwing fireballs with his left. Some wolves got hit and some were hit with the machetes. They were fading as soon as they were getting hit. Marissa swung at a wolf but missed. Wolf turned and bit her arm. Marissa yelled. Jack quickly stabbed the wolf. Jack's position was empty and through this opening a Wolf jumped at Arsalan. Arsalan was not looking this way. Wolf bit him on the shoulder and started dragging him. Arsalan fell to the ground. Nate quickly turned to help him but between him and Arsalan came three wolves. Nate stopped but Jack came running from his side. Jack jumped from between the wolves missing their claws and fangs by inches. Jack struck the wolf on the head which was dragging Arsalan. Wolf faded. Arsalan threw fireball from the ground behind Jack because three wolves were coming to attack Jack. Jack turned around and took fighting stance. Arsalan got up and stood beside Jack. Jack said

"You ok?"

"Nope, it is like someone injected a lot of adrenaline in me"

Arsalan walked towards the wolves and his legs started shaking. He turned around and said

"Jack, get on the ground"

Jack saw something changed in his eyes. He quickly laid on the ground and yelled

"Nate, Marissa, get on the ground"

Arsalan's hand started to make rapid fire. Arsalan held them in front and like a flame thrower, his hands started projecting long streams of fire. Arsalan burned the first three wolves. He turned towards Nate and Marissa. They both fell to the ground and Arsalan started burning the wolves. Jack got up and came behind Arsalan in case any wolf try to attack him from the back. Wolves faded as soon as flames hit them. Last wolf was standing in front of them. He growled and jumped on Arsalan but flames caught him mid air. Arsalan stopped. His body was burning up and smoke was coming out of his hands. Jack quickly grabbed water bottle. Arsalan was still standing. He took the water bottle and drank it all. Jack said

"May be you should sit down"

Arsalan walked with his legs shaking. He came towards the tent and sat in front of it. All three sat in front of him. Arsalan laid on his back. His hand were smoking like fresh coals. Jack said

"You OK?"

"Yes, wolf's bite was something else. It didn't hurt but I fell like something injected in me. My head is spinning a little"

Jack nodded and turned towards Marissa. Nate was looking at her arm which had a bite wound.

Jack: Why didn't you guys woke us up?

Marissa: They came out of nowhere. There was no time.

Jack: Twenty wolves? you didn't see them?

Nate: Back off a little, she is hurt.

Jack was angry and this sentence pushed his anger a little more.

Jack: Oh, she is wounded and I wonder whose fault is this.

Marissa: Jack stop.

Jack: You are hurt Mari, that wolf could have got your neck.

Marissa: But it didn't.

Jack: It could have, You both put your life in danger and also he got a bloody shoulder too.

Arsalan sat up. Situation was heating up so to keep Jack busy, he said

"That reminds me, we have to treat our wounds. Jack can you get the aid kit."

Jack went in the tent. Marissa's eyes were full of tears. It was first time that Jack was angry at her. Arsalan saw it. He didn't know what to say. Jack returned and said

"It is cold outside, you can not remove your Jackets. Come in."

Arsalan was not wearing a his jacket. They all came in and Jack said to Nate

"Go out and keep the watch genius and try to see things this time"

Nate said nothing. He came out. Jack started treating their wounds.

It was noon and they stopped for lunch. They found a grove. It had purple flowered bushes covering the ground. Everybody was quite from morning. They continued their walk after the lunch. Arsalan came to Jack and said

"What happened in the morning Jack?"

"What do you mean?"

"Why were you angry?"

"Cause they put everybody in danger"

"That is not it"

"What do you mean?"

"I know it was their mistake that they did not see the wolves but that much anger?"

"We both know that Marissa was probably trying to make Nate fall for her. We can't be playing love birds when lives are at stake"

Arsalan noticed that Jack was getting angry again sohe just nodded and said nothing.
