Drifting Away

hold me close,

just whisper in my ear,

tell me the petty lies you know i need to hear,

the soothing words to hide my fears,

a feeling that you might disappear,

why wont you just hold me close,

seeking a friendship that endures,

make me yours,

drifting away in the rains of Osaka as it pours,

melancholy words drifting out of our favourite bookstores,

wrap your arms around your knees,

crying nothing but pain into these endless seas,

the gentle sway of our neighbourhood trees, 

the little things you loved to tease,

take me with you,

i told you i needed you,

come back and tell me you were looking for something new,

i would have stopped these feelings,

but how could i stop them if they already grew.....

sometimes we wish we could do more to save our  friendships and relationships,

but its ok to step away and breathe,

to take a good look at everything and cherish the fact that what happened,
