Mia's POV

"Hello Mia"

When I heard my name roll off of his tongue so smoothly, goosebumps took over my skin. I could feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

I turned around and saw him standing over me.

"And you are?" I couldn't help but to have a smart mouth. I knew who he was, I just couldn't remember his name.

"You don't remember me? Wow I'm hurt." He says while dramatically holding his chest.
"No.. I don't think I do. Now if you'll excuse me." I got up from the bench fully intending to walk away but he gently grabbed my arm and whispered into my ear.
   "It's Giovanni, my love."

My stomach was in knots as I felt my breath hitch. I had to blink a few times before I could collect myself.

"I'm sure.." was all I could get out as he let go of me and smirked. I felt the world moving slowly as I walked the path back towards the house.

I wanted to walk back and take him all in. I wanted to know what his lips felt like on mine.. but I couldn't. I needed to get back. I knew how bad this would turn out if we were caught.

I rolled my eyes at the thoughts I was having. I mean, I BARELY know him..

When I got to the sliding door I took a deep breath still not wanting to walk in, but I knew I had to. So I opened the door to my hell.

My ears were suddenly filled with the sound of music and laughter which brought me out of my trance and back into reality.

I grabbed a champagne glass from one of the near by maids and walked back to my family. I had to stick to every detail with my family. If I told my mother I was going for a drink I damn sure had better brought one back with me or there would be endless questioning. And that was something I couldn't deal with tonight. Plus a drink was what I needed at the moment. And it's not like my parents could object to my underaged drinking since they them selves don't live the life of saints.

"Where have you been?" My mother asked.
"Nowhere mother." It took everything in me to keep from being a smart ass.
"I told you your brother had a speech to make and you missed it. Why do you choose to be defiant."

I could tell she was trying to keep her cool and as sweet as she is, she's still a hot head with a short fuse.

"I just needed some air." I kept it short and sweet.
"Well, while you were out getting *ahem* air" she looked towards the kitchen door and saw Giovanni walking back into the party. "Your brother announced his taking over of the family business."

   My heart sank.

"What?!" I looked over at Vincent and saw a smug look on his face. In that same moment he looked towards me and gave me the death stare. I knew he was pissed off that I wasn't 'present' for his announcement.

   Damn it.

"Yes and I expect you to congratulate him." She added then walked towards my father who was now giving me the same look as Vincent.

I gulped my champagne down then walked towards my brother.

"Congratulations Vin." I said kissing both of his cheeks.
The other party goers that surrounded us could feel his anger towards his dear little sister *cue eye roll* and I'm sure they also noticed my father coming towards us so they walked off leaving me to the lions.
"Where did you go?" Vincent asked with a straight face.
"Yes Mia where did you run off to?" My father chimes in.
"I just needed some air. Sorry for missing the big reveal." I said coldly. They can never just leave me alone. It's like they're all against me. Except my mother of course who was now coming to my rescue.
"I told her she could step out for a few minutes Adamo. It was my fault she wasn't present."
