Your mother has always been hands on and everyday since you could remember you saw her making paper stars. She never taught you how to make them but after 18 years you think you get the hang of it and try it out. You soon realize that this is magical paper and these are spells that have been protecting you from something for all these years. Thinking back on why you never got hurt and a few of the stars would disappear when something that threatened to shorten you life. The 16 oz. jar that kept the stars never overfilled. Sticking your hand into the jar trying to fish one out never worked, until you tried to make your own. Making it had a spell that said "Protect the light that is pure. Protect through day and night. Protect from harm. Protect from negative energy. This shield cannot be broken. So mote it be." When you finish folding it you realize it won't go into the jar. There is something stopping you from putting it in anything. Your mother comes home from work and as she enters the door you put the star in your pocket. "Hey mom welcome back" she is pale and has bags under her eyes. "Hi honey, um weird question but you weren't messing with anything while I was gone by chance?" Hesitatingly you told her no. That you had just came down from doing your homework. She sighs and passes you. Asking if you had ate. You stood there quietly for a moment then replied "No, but I can make something because you look like you need some rest." She chuckled saying she needed a new job. Going back into the kitchen you open the fridge and try to find something. Breakfast for dinner sounds good. You ask your mom if that would be okay with her but she seems to have passed out on the couch. Walking over worriedly you crouch down and feel her head. She is burning up and breathing heavily. Concerned you try to wake her up, she was stiff. Her breathing was slowing. You immediately get up and call the ambulance. Freaking out you start to pace. Trying to think, you've taken a CPR class but in this moment you don't remember anything. Thinking maybe keep her head elevated so you rush to sloppily put a pillow under her head. Biting your thumb nail you start to worry the ambulance wont make it on time. Calling them again you tell them it is urgent and ask if you can do anything. After getting a professional you hear the doorbell. Rushing to the door it must be the ambulance. Opening the door you see a man in a trench coat. Still on the phone with the professional you need not worry who this was and asked if they can do anything to help your mother. They walk past you and go down to your mother. Worried something might happen to her you rush over to make sure noting weird is going down. The operator is asking if you are ready and you see the man doing nothing. Pushing him aside you get down on your knees and put them on speaker. Yelling yeah what do I need to do. The operator tells me to elevate the feet and begin CPR. Moving the pillow previously from her hear to her toes you start to do CPR. The man wandering around the house. Not bothering to help just wandering. After a few times of CPR she seems to begin breathing steadily. You look around for the mysterious man and see he is trying to dump the jar full of stars.
