part13_Torn to shreds

Start from the beginning

It was late night when nandni was still busy doing some work. All employees left hours ago. But nandni needed to stay extra time.. Many times she felt whispers from the cabinet of manik, it was so relaxing that at least there was someone else also in this dark huge building. She was feeling drowsy when still one file was left to sort out.

She stood up and went into pantry to make one cup of tea to bring herself into senses. For some time she debated if she should make one cup for him also or not. At the end she decided to make one for him too. She knocked softly and pushed the door open slowly. Her entrance forced his eyes to leave his laptop he was working at and looked up. She felt his continuous stare at herself while covering the distance from door to his desk.

He raised an eyebrow at her, intensity blinking from his eyes. His overall appearance was different today. He had removed his coat and placed at the back of his chair, sleeves folded till his elbows, his hairs were a rough tough mess, eyes were dull and skin colour pale. She wandered if he was ok. It was too painful to see him like such lost soul.

“what’s this...!” He asked with blank expressions.

“Cup of tea...!” She shrugged simply like it wasn’t any big deal.

“I didn’t ask for it...!” He replied curtly, diverting his eyes back at his laptop.

“I thought you would be tired so a cup of tea would be ok....!” She whispered looking at him.

“I don’t need it, I’m just leaving...!” He replied curtly still typing aggressively at laptop. Nodding her head she took cup of tea and left his room. She shifted her gaze back to catch his one last glimpse before closing the door. To her dismay he never tried to lift his eyes to see that how his rude behaviour was snatching every colour of her life.

           ------------

She stood at front of her room window where she can see huge back yard where parking was located. Night was little breezy and yellow leaves were falling from trees. Cruel air making them flutter mercilessly. The only sound she can hear was of leaves, when gush of wind passing by them. She was sipping her tea when she noticed a familiar face walking towards his car with his laptop bag in one hand and in other he was holding mobile.

In the light of parking his dark hairs were tickling against his forehead. Stopping near his car he remained busy talking with may be any client. His expressions were intense at the moment, like he was arguing with someone. How she wished she could keep looking at him. Taking a deep sigh she closed her eyes. She inhaled the same air which was coming towards her after gathering his cologne. She opened her eyes when her beating heart dared to look at him.

Almost as if he could feel her, he turned around and directly switched his eyes towards her. Her pulses racing at unusual pace. She expected him to divert his eyes back towards his car but surprisingly he kept his eyes glued at her. His deathly intense gaze giving her the ability to temporarily bring her into shock. She couldn’t remove her eyes from his face. There was tiredness in his orbs, like they were battling against the pain he was going through. How she wanted to run and ask him, why he was looking so pained. What was bothering him. But will he allow her to break the walls, he was caging him inside.

Her sigh was a mixture of agony and infuriation, she held the curtains and pulled together. Blocking his stare entirely which was causing an unsettling feelings to run through her entire body. His mere presence around her made her believe that how incomplete she is. After few seconds she heard  his car engine started and he left the building, leaving her all alone. She felt her throat becoming even more dry and painful when she tried to blink away her unshed tears.
