     You seem to replace your brain with your heart;
You take things so hard that you fall apart♡

The first day of April marks the beginning of a new semester. Mr.Stamford was carefully cutting the edges of a blue teddy bear drawn on a coloured paper. The bell rang and students entered along with their parents. The room was soon embibed with the chitter-chatter of the folks discussing the current situation. Little John was clinging to Harriet, his older sister who was discussing about something related to her job to Mrs.Smith. His blue crystal eyes wandered about from person to person taking in each of the surroundings. Soon after a while Mr.Stamford stood up from his chair and announced, "Now I would request all of the parents to exit the room so that we start the school day."

    Harriet sat on her knees and gave Little John's shoulders a light squeeze. "Now listen up, Johnny boy!" she said "Dad and mum and Harry are all expecting a lot from you. Hope you make us all proud." Little John wasn't paying attention to Harriet's words; instead his gaze was caught up in a set of curls that was bended down on the window inspecting something with a piece of glass that soaked in the early morning sunshine and emitted each of the seven rainbow colours separately. John was brought back from his wanderabouts when Harriet stood up again and tended to leave. The absence of a familiar touch haunted John and worsened his nightmares. Before he could react, Harriet was gone. Disappeared like a ghost leaving Little John in an emptied space. He turned his head from left to right seeing children of his own age playing, running, cheering all around but no sign of Harriet. His thumb was moistened from the time he had been sucking on it and his whole body began to shiver. Little pearls formed around the crinkles of his eyes and soon he was a writhing mess, crying, with little hiccups now and then, grabbing the attention of each and every child in the room. It seemed like someone had turned the handle of the faucet in his eyes and there was nowhere to stop.

   Rubbing his fists over his eyes, he kept on shedding droplets after droplets which seemed to provide a contrast to the blue bright sky in the form of a heavy rain. Suddenly, a warm hand was placed on Little John's shoulder. His shivers slowly calmed down and he batted his eyelashes to wipe out the excessive tears. There was the mop of curls standing right in front of him. He could hear his heartbeat thumping in his ears making his heart more bigger each second. His heart, too big to fit inside his chest, so big, pouring out its contents outside so that everyone can see. The blood flushed his cheeks, turning them beetroot-red, embarrassment enveloping him each second. His tears were longer gone, absorbed by the ground, like the fresh soil absorbs rainwater after a humid day.

    Little John was mesmerised by the sight before him. A long coat, upturned collar suiting with a muffler, an eminent-disguise too eccentric for the tastes and fashion of a child. This child wasn't like the others - too-normal, instead there was something too different making him outstanding than the others. Ricky, from the other side of the room called out, "A boy crying like a little girl. Such a shame. You wanna make me call your mom boyyo!" Loud laughter rose in unison. John couldn't bear it. He lowered his gaze and started fiddling with the hem of his shirt. Curly-haired pressed his lips into a thin line. Little John wasn't affected by the teasing of his peers. He didn't cared. Rather than he was affected by the actions of the curly lad. To get embarrassed in front of him was the last thing that Little John ever wanted to be.

    Mop of  curls holded his jacket with his left hand and soon digged his right-hand into it thereafter. He seemed to be searching for something. Little John's eyes were glued onto how Curly Lad's slim fingers created an impression on the fabric. The boy gave a sense of satisfaction as he pulled out his hand in the form of a fist. "There you go, little crybaby!" Little John was enthusiastic yet afraid at the same time. He put his palm forward and there a small blue crystal was placed upon it. The colour resembled to the vast ocean, a shimmery-glittery blue, matching with Little John's eyes. His face broke into a goofy grin as he rolled the crystal into his palms.

   Curly Lad, seeing the job quite done, turned his heel and started to leave. Little John couldn't let him go, he might as well disappear like Harriet, leaving him alone with strangers. He was quick to grab his sleeve and ask "W..w. ..who are you?" His voice  broke as he spoke. The Curly-haired lad looked at his sleeve and answered "My name's Sherlock Holmes and I'm from Grade 2(B)." And with that statement he was gone, gone like the wind. Little John couldn't process when his grip loosened on his sleeve and he let him go. He was sad to watch his only acquaintance leave but he couldn't help it. He opened his palm and looked at the shiny crystal ball, the only remembrance, the only belongings of his. There was a satisfactory smile on his face and a little skip in his heart.

   Little John looked at Mr.Stamford with a happy face and smiled through it. "Happy to see you are interacting, Johnny boy!" Just then a thought crossed his mind and he hopped to the teacher's table. Harriet had already informed him about John's sensitive nature. "But Sir he doesn't know my name...." he spoke up again. Mr.Stamford replied "Don't bother about it Johnny boy. But let me tell you this, he's the most intelligent boy in our school and he knows a lot more about you than you know about him." And with this, Little John was left in a trance about his new curly-acquaintance.

Author's note: I was a crybaby and I used to get teased and even my mother was tired that I used to cry upon small things. But I cannot change it. That's what I am. I am sensitive and I am happy to accept it.

All the love,
