Arc 2: Chapter 1

"Greetings to you as well, consort Dài Yuan." Hè Meifeng bowed in greeting. 'The villainess.' She thought.

[Host! Becareful! In the story she plotted against you because you were friends with the heroine. She poisoned you and during that time the heroine visited you in the evening, that's where the assasins came in and attacked!] Intel spinned around as he informed his host of the danger.

'Thanks, Intel.'

"Greetings, Dài Yuan." The heroine bowed as well towards her.

"What brings you here?" She inquired.

"We were just strolling by. Do you need something?" Dīng Xiuying said.

"Oh nothing really. I heard that the general will return within the next full moon." She whispered. Her eyes was filled with worry and sorrow.

"Oh really? That's great! I heard that he won against the huns. That is very reasuring to know that he will be returning soon." They then began to talk to each other as Hè Meifeng just listened as the words go straight to her ear then out to the next. She just keep on nodding and smiling, not contributing to the conversation at all.

'Intel, when is the assasination gonna happen?'

[It will happen after two weeks from the Lantern festival but that would be 1 and a half month away.]

'Thanks.'

The two days later...

"Jingfei, I would like to go outside."

"Okay. I shall grab your warm clothes. Please wait for a while." She obediently bowed and didn't ask questions. She quickly grabbed a thick cloth of silk and went over to her mistress and covered her with the cloth.

They went outside. It was dark and cold but with the thick candles, they were able to see the hallways of the palace. They walked and walked as Hè Meifeng walked elegantly as she followed Intel's directions towards Dīng Xiuying where she was fighting with two concubines.

There were gladly only 6 concubines including the two of them so gladly there were not a lot of people to slap.

"Just because you've been dotted on by the emperor yesterday doesn't mean you can do anything you want. The emperor will forget you once you get older and get all wrinkly!" A concubine shouted. Dīng Xiuying was clenching her hands tightly as she listened to her speaking. She really wanted to slap her face- but before she could, Hè Meifing arrived swiftly and silently, and slapped her face first.

"Consort Shèng Ai, please forgive consort Dīng Xiuying for she is new here and doesn't know a lot." Hè Meifeng looked at Dīng Xiuying. "Apologize to consort, Shèng Ai."

Dīng Xiuying bowed at her command as asked for forgiveness. "This consort doesn't know a lot. Please forgive this consort."

"Humph. This consort is merciful, this consort will forgive you. I shall leave you then. Have a good evening." She quickly flee with her servant behind her.

Slap!

"Consort Dīng Xiuyang. You should learn to not provoke anyone unless you want to be killed. I have loved with them for a few years but they have schemes and power. They can kill you in your sleep." Dīng Xiuyang held her cheek that was slapped. She wasn't used to being slapped so her eyes watered making her look pityfu
and sad and pitiful.

"This consort... understands."

Hè Meifeng sighed and apologized at what she did. "Im sorry, Xiuyang. But you need to learn to not provoke others and to protect yourself. Im sorry I hit you." Hè Meifeng comforted Dīng Xiuyang until they arrived back at their rooms.

They all slept silently tonight.

Except for one consort...

"You will regret this, consort Hè Meifeng."
