To The One I Once Loved

Ages ago we were the talk of the town,

Sauntering about, arm-in-arm.

With no care or worry

Of what men or beast would say.

We took captive tongues

And won battles without a fight.

We finished each other’s sentences

And found solace in silence

For we knew what was in the other’s heart.

All could see that we were

For each other made.

Heart-knit, we called ourselves.
*insert derisive laughter here*

Tragedy struck like thunder,

Discombobulating the equi    brium

                                                    li

We had set.

S h a k i n g our core,

Or was it mine alone?

You wanted More,

And you, no we,

Made her an idol.

She dug her claws into you

And took up my space.

You felt content in her

And forgot our life before her.

I wrote this a long time ago. Just made a few adjustments. I don't know much about the different types of poems but I have started learning actively.

Thanks to @ifana8 and @regerman. They both don't know this, but as I read some of their poetry books, I was also learning new things. So I'm gonna read more on poetry and keep getting better as I go on. Do check out their profiles and books too, you'll be glad you did.

And a shout out to @ntlpurpolia. Thank you for checking this book out, voting and leaving a comment!

#RandomQuestion: What's your favourite season of the year and why?

•I love the rainy season here in Nigeria because it rains (obviously 😂) and the weather is cool and lovely.

Do enjoy your day or night!! ❤🤗
