(UNPOPULAR) OPINONS ─ BTS EDITION

FANDOM & PERSONAS

1). I sincerely believe that all of the happy bappy sunshine and rainbows act the boys put on for the fans is transparent. It may have been 100% genuine during the debut era (when they were just excitable teenagers emerging into a new world) but lately, it's clear to see that the facade is slowly crumbling. As idols, they have a squeaky-clean, do right and keep smiling image to uphold but it honestly just makes them appear insincere. I feel like they're only doing it now so they don't raise any more suspicions in the fandom. Fans need to understand that the boys are humans BEFORE idols who just want to get their message across. I think it's safe to say they've more than achieved this goal and have helped save lives! Now, it's time for fans to turn around and return the favor. Yes, they make us happy and I'm sure as hell we make them happy but let's remind them that it's okay not to be okay like they've done for us so many times before. Drop those unrealistic expectations that come with claiming them as Gods and just view them as the men they are. Understand that it's okay for them to have bad days and don't shun them for not wearing always wearing a smile. It's okay for them date & fall in love, we're NOT their parents and we have no right to dictate their life decisions or get upset over dating news. Fans should separate their love and admiration for the boys with reality and realize the likelihood of any of us ending up with a BTS member is slim to none. Only seven lucky people will have the privilege to love them and be loved in return (romantically)! On top of that, they're SOUTH KOREAN natives with minimal ability to speak any other language (aside from RM), so expect them to find a fluent Korean-speaking partner! Accept that. Instead, the army fandom should take the messages that BTS advocate and put it towards bettering their own lives! Making new friends, learning self-acceptance, chasing dreams and finding their life partner. Yes, RM stated that we can use BTS to help us learn how to love ourselves but we shouldn't rely on them as our ONLY source of happiness. Use their wise words as inspiration to be your own person and make your mark in the world! I believe that this is the true takeaway from all of their LOVE YOURSELF eras. 

2). J-Hope may be the most troubled member. They say that the saddest people smile the brightest. We really DON'T know what any of them are like off-camera but judging from past interviews and body language, Hoseok seems like one hell of an actor! You'd almost think that's just the way he is until he slips up with all those exaggerated reactions and body movements. A close second would be V, except he doesn't seem afraid to frown in front of fans. It's not that deep and I don't want to assume anything about anyone but keeping the first opinion in mind, they're humans too. The boys might not even be as close as we're all led to believe. Who really knows?

3). The immature fans outweigh the mature, respectful fans. A good majority of BTS fans are teenagers and it shows. Older fans, don't be disheartened, just remember that we were all young and sprung at some point in our lives. However, we shouldn't overlook the obvious obsessive behavior that a good chunk of BTS fans exudes. It's a bit unsettling the lengths that people are willing to go to catch a glimpse of seven men they've only ever seen behind a screen.  I also don't agree with the boys referring to their fans as boyfriend/girlfriend, it gives a lot of us a sense of false hope and possibly encourages some of the unhealthy fan culture.
