as derek and john finish their duet, the guests shower them in roses (and also tomatoes for the less keen).
derek is exhausted by this point, so he gives zach a (warm yet icy) goodnight hug and heads home:

derek is now very sleepy, and we all must help him fall asleep by simultaneously saying 'goodnight possum!'.

§ dodgy time loophole thing whatever i'm skipping to the next day §
rise and shine it's a brand new day
derek awakens to the birds cheeping and john trabolta screaming his name through his bedroom window. this is quite a shock this early in the morning for derek! startled, he heads to the kitchen to make his favourite breakfast (pancakes and butter) to enjoy while relaxing in his morning ice bath.
after he is settled in his ice bath watching Hop, he remembers that he left john, clearly distraught, standing at his bedroom window. this is only a momentary problem for derek, as he realises that 'Who needs john travolta anyway?', until he looks up and sees a little silhouetto of a john standing in his bathroom window, attempting to communicate.
derek jumps so high from the shock of the john that he falls out of his ice bath and spills his buttery pancakes! after this disaster he just decides to get dressed and go to play basketball with zach (however he is still slightly greasy from the butter).
Zach is very happy that he is playing basketball with derek, but oh no!! derek has a surprise up his tank top sleeves!!
