derek seems to be thinking that there is a lack of energy at the party, so he decides to take his horse to the old town road and ride till he gets to argos to pick up his order (see below):

derek picks up his order, and returns to zachs house where zach is waiting looking absolutely disgusted at the world (as normal hahaha savaged in a fanfic bet u didn't see that coming) and watches as derek sets up his new.... disco ball?
the disco ball is voice activated (as are all disco balls) and so derek makes it flash by screaming 'john travolta' over and over again (see below):

but oh no!! little does derek know that he has actually summoned john travolta!! this is an astonishing accomplishment as john normally wallows in his very own mud bath deep in the dark suburban streets of hollywood.
derek is obviously astounded by his discovery and welcomes john to the party with a warm hug (but not too warm as he just got out of his ice bath).
derek goes back to the decks to play some tunes and john joins dereks multiplied selves on the dance floor as the raving intensifies:

an hour or two pass and derek thinks it's time to liven things up a bit, so clears the dance floor and performs his duet with john (wow world debut!!). everyone is absolutely amazed at johns flexibility, and scream and clap the whole way through the dance (slightly off putting for derek, but he keeps his cool (the ice bath is very useful) and keeps dancing as to not ruin johns thunder):
