Chapter Twenty Three - Distract

Previously...

"What should we do now?" I asked, looking up at him.

"Hm, I don't know really."

All of a sudden, an idea popped up inside my brain.

"Karaoke!"

(Taehyun's POV)

"Karaoke?" I asked her, surprised with the idea.

"Yeah, I can't really sing but it will be fun!"

"Ah, I don't know..."

"Please, Taehyun." She said, grabbing my arm lightly.

Why Y/N? Why do I have to like you so much?

"Okay, fine." I gave in to her and a huge smile appeared on her face.

"Yay! Let's go." She said before pulling me along with her.

(Y/N's POV)

We finally arrived at the karaoke place and booked a room for the two of us. I was actually having a lot more fun than I expected I would after a breakup. Maybe it was just Taehyun who helped me through it. 

I smiled at the thought and walked into the room with him.

We had sung a few songs together and I decided that we should do one each by ourselves.

"Your turn!" I told him.

"You want me to do one by myself?"

"Yeah" 

"Um...okay sure"

"Yay." I said, while smiling up at him.

He began singing and I was immediately amazed by his voice. Why was he so good at everything? I looked at him in awe, admiring everything about him. His face, his voice, everything. 

"Y/N?" Taehyun said, looking at me in confusion.

"Huh?" I asked him.

"You were staring at me for ages."

"Was I?" I began to get flustered.

"Yeah. Anyway, I'm going to the restroom. I'll be right back." He answered before leaving the room.

(Taehyun's POV)

I walked out of the restroom, excited to go back and see Y/N. All of a sudden, somebody walked past and I could swear I recognized them. I watched him for a few more seconds until I realized who it was...Yeonjun. I couldn't believe it at first. Yeonjun at a place like this...with another girl? Didn't he say he had plans today? This is what he meant? I ran immediately towards our room and burst open the door.

"Oh hey Taehyun, I picked another-"

"Y/N, we have to go. Quickly."

"What, why?" 

"I'll explain later. Let's go." 

I grabbed her hand and held it firmly while walking out. We made it out and she looked at me confused.

"Why did we leave?"

"I saw someone there."

"Who?"

There was silence for a few seconds before I spoke.

"Yeonjun.."

"Oh. Who was he with?"

"I don't know. I couldn't see him well."

"Ah, okay." 

I felt so bad having to lie to her but I couldn't possibly tell her he was with a girl. How would she react? It wouldn't be good, let me tell you that. 

"Sorry, you didn't get to sing a song by yourself."

"It's fine because I'm with you." She told me quietly, almost too quiet for me to hear.

"What did you say?" I asked her, my cheeks heating up.

"N-nothing."

"Okay." 

"Do you want to go to my house again? I don't mind."

"Are you sure? I've been going round a lot recently..."

"Why would I ask if I didn't want you to stay over?"

"True." She said with a smile.

I smiled back knowing I made her happy once more.

We got back and walked into the bedroom, sitting down like we always do. I remembered that I had bought food for Y/N so I headed back out, grabbed the snacks and walked over to her.

"Hey, I had a feeling you would stay again so I got you these." I told her, handing her a vast variety of different snacks including most of her favourites.

"Woah, you really didn't have to."

"I wanted to."

"Ah, thanks." She said with a smile.

It had been around 15 minutes since we both spoke to eachother until I finally spoke. 

"Aren't you going to eat anything else?" 

.....silence. Why wasn't she replying to me? 

"Y/N?" I looked up at her and she was staring at her phone, not moving a slight bit. 

I sat next to her and looked over at her phone. 

"What's wrong?"

"Taehyun, look..."

It was a post from Yeonjun and he was with the same girl I saw at the karaoke place.

(Y/N's POV)

I was scrolling through Instagram aimlessly and double-tapping everything I saw until I came across a post. This time I didn't like it. Was I seeing correctly? Was it Yeonjun? It had to be. Who was he with? I swiped through the photos until I saw the last one. They were kissing. 

My mind was all over the place and I didn't even notice Taehyun trying to get my attention. He sat next to me and asking what was wrong.

"Taehyun, look..." I handed him my phone, the post looking back at us.

"Is that...Yeonjun?" He asked, just as surprised as I was.

"I think so." 

"Oh my god, are you alright?"

"I think so, I don't know. I understand why he cheated on me now. Look at her." I said, admiring the unknown girl on the photos.

"Don't say that Y/N, you're beautiful. In my opinion, you look even prettier than her. He didn't deserve you, okay? Don't bring yourself down just because of a jerk like him." He told me, sincerity in his eyes.

"Thank you Taehyun. You are the best person I have ever met and I'm glad we are so close." I said to him, hugging him.

I blushed slightly after saying that but I wasn't lying at all. Our relationship really is the best thing that has happened to me.
