Sonnet: August 9th

You appeared suddenly in front of me;

I took one look and felt my heart go boom.

I couldn't help but smile myself silly,

You brought a certain softness to the room.

And when I heard you speak for the first time,

I fell deep, now too far gone to return.

Though, I knew that the bells would never chime,

So I could do nothing but face the burn.

Time and time again I do see your face,

And every time is precious to my soul.

You're the reason I'm happy at this place;

However, I must remember my role.

I need to back away before I say

Something that I'll regret giving away.
