Kyla POV: "Kyla!" My mom yelled. I ran down the stairs with my backpack on my right shoulder. "I'm right here ma." I responded. I was trying to put on my shoes and backpack on as quickly as I could to leave the house in time. "C'mon Kyla, you're almost 17. You should be taking responsibility to leave earlier so you won't be rushing out the house trying to make it to school before 9:00 a.m." My mom said with a frown. "I know ma, I know." I said. "I love you though!" My mom yelled as I slipped out the door while yelling "I love you too!" back.
I got in my 2019 blue Toyota Camry and drove off. I pulled up to my school and found my friends around my locker. Jada, Mya, and Layla were all there.
As I got my books out my locker, Mya whispered "Thirsty ex at 12 o'clock, girllllll you better go to class before he start tryna-" "Kyla? Can I talk to you really quick? I mean just for a second." My ex asked. We went out for five months until I decided I needed to focus on school and ideas of colleges I want to attend not boys and ever since he's been trying to talk to me. "Ty, I'm sorry but I broke up with you for a reason. I need to work on school and my future and I can't do that if I'm with you." I told him. His head hung low and suddenly he looked up and said "Bet. I see how it is.." And started to walk away and then after three steps he said, " But no matter what, imma be here forever and that's for real." and this time he walked away.
I like Ty, I really do, but I'm serious about school. I have to be, if I want to become a nurse later on in life then that's what has to be done. I snap out of this thinking trance and head to class. I try to enter the classroom quietly and as quick as I can to sit in my chair, but my teacher looks up from her computer and says "Kyla, you're late." She sipped her coffee, "Sorry Ms. Brown." I said apologetically and ducked my head. " Mmmh, just don't let it happen again." She responded.
