Returned- part 2

Adrien took another deep breath and told her everything.

"What?" Marinette's eyes exploded with shock.

"Dear, we know hard it is for you to take this news, trust me, when I told Adrien he almost had a tantrum." Emilie bit off a laugh.

"Don't take this to heart Mrs. Agreste but it kind of explained why Gabriel acted so... cold." Marinette said.

"I know and you took the news better than my own son." Emilie spoke.

"This means that all this time Ladybug and Cat Noir had been fighting Gabriel, a world renown fashion designer, who is secretly Hawkmoth." Marinette placed her hand under her fringe.

"Now we know who Hawkmoth is, I wonder who Ladybug and Cat Noir are." Mrs. Agreste rested her forefinger on her chin, pretending to be in thought.

Marinette stiffened before replying. "I'm sure all of Paris wonder that too. I do myself, but their identities must remain a secret no matter what."

Emilie knew how serious Marinette took this but she had to know that she, Emilie Agreste, knew Marinette was leading a double life.

"Sweetie, I know how serious you take your role as a superhero." The blonde lady took Marinette's hands in her own.

"W-What do you mean Mrs. Agreste?" Marinette gulped. She spared a glance at Adrien.

"I know you're Ladybug." 

"What?!" She looked straight into the green eyes in front of her. "N-no I'm not." 

"There isn't any point in hiding it, is there Marinette?" 

The bluenette took a deep breath. "Did you tell her?" She asked Adrien softly.

"Actually, I figured it out on my own." Emilie interrupted then cupped Marinette's cheek, treating her as if she was her own daughter. "I dont want you marrying off Adrien whilst you both have a huge secret, even if its for the best."

Marinette looked down at her feet. 

"Oh, there's another thing Marinette." Adrien said. 

Marinette looked up to meet his eyes.

"My mom also knows that I'm Cat Noir."

"It was quite simple." Emilie laughed. "If only you two weren't so oblivious and actually see the sunshine to figure it out."

Marinette and Adrien both blushed.

"Mrs. Agreste , can I ask you something?" Marinette asked.

"Of course."

"How long have you known that me and Adrien were the heroes of Paris?"

"It's been a 1 or 2 years. I thought that my son was Cat Noir but I needed to confirm it, with him disappearing at night." Emilie told. "How I found out you were Ladybug is a different story. I only found out you were Ladybug just recently, around 6 months ago. I saw Marinette Dupain Cheng leaving her house with a basket of goods, then moments later I saw Ladybug with the same basket, then Marinette again." 

"I could've asked Ladybug to help me." Marinette debated.

"But if you added the dots together it would've made sense. Sometimes Ladybug goes behind that wall on top of your balcony at the bakery and then you replace her in the exact place. But it's also about appearance. You need to use a bit of this to figure it out." Emilie touched the side of her head. "Your personality may differ but your hair and eyes definitely match the superheroines'."

Marinette smiled. "Does anyone else know about our identities?"

"No, it's just between us three, that is if you told someone else." Emilie said. "I cant wait for this wedding to come and be over. I still need to find something to wear."

Adrien shook his head playfully at Marinette but she was looking somewhere else and that somewhere else was at her ring finger. She wanted Adrien, he was the best thing in her life and if she didn't have the ring then who knows what! 

Adrien nudged his mother's arm who was rambling about whether to wear a white dress or pink dress at the wedding. He took a black box out of his pocket and showed it to his mother. "I might as well re-propose to her again." He whispered.

He looked at Marinette who was in despair. He took her hand and knelt on his knee. "This ring," He opened the box and took the precious item out, showing it to the woman in front of him. "Belongs here." He put the ring on Marinette's finger. 

She stared at it, happiness reading her face. "I'm so happy to have you back into my life." She said, and hugged her once again fiancé. She wrapped her arms around his neck and he hugged back, rubbing his hand up and down her back.

Plagg and Tikki looked at the two engaged couple hugging, they hugged too, both happy that their owners were together and they were too. 

"We still have something we need to complete and finish off." Marinette broke the hug.

"What's that?"

"Volpina."

"We can sort that out tomorrow, it's really late now." Adrien yawned.

So Emilie left, and Adrien and Marinette both went to bed, both already in their pyjamas. 

Tomorrow was the battle with Volpina.
